Matt Mueller sponsors

1958 + 1959 Packers!

Die-hard Packer fan Matt Mueller of Green Bay has sponsored the restoration of our newest NFL DVD, the 1958 + 1959 Packer highlights.

Now, a Green Bay area finance professional by trade and a Packer fan for as long as he can remember, Matt is also keenly interested in the club's history and has purchased all 11 Packer DVDs that Rare Sportsfilms has so far produced.

"In the November, 2011 Rare Sportsfilms Newsletter, I read the story about Dan Geroni's sponsoring the restoration of some rare 16mm film and I wondered whether Rare Sportsfilms had anything on the early Lombardi years", Matt recalls. "I wanted to see film of the team just before Lombardi took over, and also watch action from the first year after he arrived. Sure enough, Doak had the films!

I feel this has been a worthwhile project, because I realized that no one else had the films I was looking for, plus I knew Rare Sportsfilms has a reputation of doing excellent film restoration work. Now, with this new DVD available, anyone can see Lombardi Packer history from the 1958-1959 transition years."

For all Packer fans and all present and future Rare Sportsfilms customers, we say "Thanks, Matt!"

Green Bay Packers Highlights

Head coach Ray McLean's 1958 Packers suffered through a dismal 1-10-1 season. In 1959, new coach Vince Lombardi mixed old players with new and the Packers won their last five games for a 7-5 record. This DVD covers the transition years of the Packers, a team evolving from losers to winners under their remarkable coach, who would turn the club into a pro football dynasty in the decade ahead.
