Who We Are...
Don't Miss this Opportunity to Get the Most from Your Woodlands!
The 2016 Woodland Owners Short Course programs are starting soon and represent a great opportunity for woodland owners and those with an interest in woodlands and wildlife to learn how to make their woodlands as healthy and productive as possible. The first program will be this Saturday (July 16) and idesigned for central Kentucky woodland owners. Space is limited for the green track for this program. Woodland Owners Short Course

The next Short Course is coming up on July 30 in eastern Kentucky. The final Short Course will be in western Kentucky on August 13. 

Attendees have two tracks to choose from: Green for those just getting started managing their woodlands and Gold for those that have been actively managing their woodlands for a while.

For all of you that love trees you might be interested in checking out Tree Talk which is an online magazine connected (in some way) to urban forestry and trees in the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky. This magazine is part of the UKnTrees website which is an extension of the Urban Forest Initiative, a collaborative group of UK academic and Lexington community stakeholders with an active interest in enhancing the urban forest. Whether you live in an urban or rural area you are sure to find something of interest in the Tree Talk online magazine.

Kentucky Master Woodland Stewards Program Accepting Applications through August 15
We are accepting applications for the Kentucky Master Woodland Stewards Program which is scheduled for September 16-18, 2016. This program is a joint-partnership between UK Forestry Extension and the Kentucky Division of Forestry. The goal of the program is to provide interested woodland owners with advanced woodland management skills and to create forestry ambassadors across the Commonwealth. Following the training, participants, called Kentucky Master Woodland Stewards, agree to return to their communities and serve as ambassadors of sustainable woodland and wildlife management. Space is limited so if this is an opportunity you are interested in please complete and submit the application by August 15. The training school will be held from September 16, 2016 to September 18, 2016 at UK's historic Robinson Forest. Selected applicants will be notified by August 22.
