Kentucky Forestry Technical Expertise is Threatened
The loss of forestry technical expertise in the private (Kentucky Association of Consulting Foresters) and public (Kentucky Division of Forestry) sector continues in Kentucky. This is due to a number of factors the most important is the overall economy and softness of the timber markets. Read all about it in a blog post by Jeff Stringer at http://ukforestryextension.blogspot.com/

Getting Youth Interested in Forestry
UK Forestry Extension faculty and staff conducted a series of Forestry 4-H programs around the state this fall that included youth forestry education and contests plus a Quiz Bowl for the older students. In all, over 200 youth participated from 23 counties at locations across the state. If you know of youth in your county that would like to participate in this program, please contact your local 4-H agent and ask them to help Terry Conners and Doug McLaren coordinate a visit to your area.
