Stand Up for Your Health

Even if you exercise on a regular basis, but sit eight hours a day, your health may still be at risk. A recent study revealed that those who sat for four hours or less daily were much less likely to have a chronic condition -- such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease or high blood pressure.

Ask the Experts

Q: How do I know which one is right for me, Zumba, Zumba Toning or Zumba Gold?

What's Happening at the Wellness Center

New Summer Program "Reach the Beach" June 9 through August 3

Our newest program encourages you to earn miles to your virtual beach by participating in physical activity and following other healthy practices.  For every 5 minutes spent in activity, you earn 1 mile. There are goal beaches to choose from, and incentives along the way.

Prizes: The grand prize winner will choose six 1-hour massages  OR six 1-hour personal training sessions. There will be other prizes and drawings along the way.

Sign up at the front table today.  Miles tracking sheets and more information can be found at the blood pressure station.

Farmers Market at Fauquier Hospital
Join us in the Bistro at 1 p.m. every Wednesday, right after the Farmers Market on Hospital Hill, when Executive Chef Tony DeWalt will offer a cooking demonstration. He will create a dish with ingredients chosen earlier in the day from the Farmers Market.

Healthy Eating, Healthy Living
These two low-calorie items are great options for the summer. The Berry Yogurt Cream can be enjoyed as a sweet treat for breakfast or as a healthy dessert. The Southwest Bean and Corn Salad is ready in minutes and makes a great healthy dip or a side item.

Email us your own favorite recipe at livingwell@fauquierhealth.org, for a chance to win a prize.
