Greetings!

March Madness Indeed!
As we are fast approaching the end of the first quarter, I am realizing that the "New Year" frenzy has not shown any sign of slowing down! I now have a new found love for the slogan "March Madness". "March Madness" usually refers to college basketball tournaments and stuff like that, but I have now adopted that slogan as my current status for anything social or business like.
As I try to stay out of the weeds at work, I can't seem to get my time management skills to kick in and allow me the opportunity to finish that book "What Got You Here Won't Get You There"; complete my power point presentation on workplace planning; and to have special bonding time with all my fabulous friends. It's MADNESS! March Madness Indeed!
Anywho, trust and believe, I will continue to stay focused and take control of my time so that I can achieve all that I set out to do and then some. Anyways, what could be worse, "April Showers"?
Stay connected, and I hope to see you at our March chapter meeting.
Your ASTD SWFL President,
Ken Bodenhamer

February Chapter Meeting Recap
|
Did you ever wish you had a more creative or innovative impact on your organization's goals? Or maybe you already have those skills and want to be more analytical and strategic when the time calls for it.
Our natural ways of thinking and behaving are driven by the function of our brain. Those who function naturally in a world of ambiguity and fluid work processes function primarily out of your brain's right hemisphere. Those who function naturally by creating structure and understanding project details primarily use the left hemisphere.
A large misconception about our brains is that whatever hemisphere you primarily function in is the only one you can access. The truth is, the brain is a muscle; the more you use it the stronger it becomes. The synopsis that take place in between your brain cells increase as the brain is stimulated by learning. The more frequent synopsis takes place between the cells, the quicker you become at making decisions. Not just decisions, better decisions.
The neuroscience industry is currently tracking how learning to use the weakest side of your brain helps create individuals who think quicker, make better decisions, and achieve more.

Socialization and Productivity |
As trainers it can sometimes be a challenge to get organization leaders to understand the importance of one-on-one employee interaction when strengthening a team's collaboration and productivity.
A recent study done by Bank of America found teams who interacted more frequently had a 10% higher productivity rate.
Several other studies researching employee interaction have even suggested that you can predict an employee's likelihood of leaving an organization or getting promoted by data gathered in these studies.
Wanna know the key behaviors driving collaboration or separation?
