Innovation continues to grow in Power Inn. Atlas Disposal is partner to bring the nation's largest anaerobic digester processing plants, which will ultimately eliminate about 30 million tons of methane gas from the atmosphere.

The Sacramento Biodigester 1 opened this month and will begin taking in 25 tons of food waste from restaurants, markets and campuses, turning organic matter into green energy and clean soil for local farms.
In 2013, the plant will process 40,000 tons of food waste into energy and biodegradable fuel, reducing one-third of diesel consumed for this feet, and making Atlas Disposal the first company to fuel all 50 trucks by producing its own natural gas.
"The fueling station begins construction this month," said Atlas President and Alliance Director Dave Sikich, at the plant's grand opening on December 14.
Sacramento Biodigester 1, formerly the South Area Transfer Station on Fruitridge Road, is creating 16 new jobs and making use of a site that has been vacant for many years.
