Alliance Members Join SPD to Clean Out
Homeless Camps Under Lightrail
In an effort to reduce litter and vandalism, and clean the area for pending Ramona Avenue extension, the Alliance  worked with local business members, PRIDE Industries and the Sac Police Dept. to clean up two homeless camps.
The open field under lightrail and Hwy 50 was an ideal location for transients to set up camps, hidden by tall bamboo and tree clusters, allowing camps to go unseen for some time. After several reports of increased crime and transient traffic along Ramona, a joint decision was made with Sac Police, The Alliance, local businesses and CalTrans to clean the area up.
Officers Keith LaFlamme and Paul Brown, along with Homeless Detail and Crime Suppression, Sac Police visited campers to see if other locations can be found, or if families could be contacted. Campers were given notice the area would be cleaned before the Alliance clean up crew and CalTrans removed junk, debris and brush.
Everyone pitched in. The Alliance thanks Geremia Pools and GP Landscaping for clearing brush with bobcats, Atlas Disposal for donating a dumpster, L and D Landfill for donating the disposal, and especially the PRIDE clean up crew for hours of intense labor.
