Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley toured the historic Wright Company factory buildings May 16.

NAHA officials, the head of site redeveloper Home Avenue Redevelopment LLC and city of Dayton economic development staff accompanied the mayor. They briefed her on efforts to preserve the buildings as a national park unit and redevelop the remainder of the 54-acre site with complementary uses.

NAHA is doing a feasibility study as the first step in a major fundraising campaign to acquire and secure the site.

The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force has expanded visitor hours for its Presidential and Research and Development galleries to meet increased tourism traffic during the summer season, according to a museum announcement.

Starting May 22, the galleries are open seven days per week through Sept. 1. Visitors must ride shuttle buses from the main museum complex to the galleries, which are located in a controlled area of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The museum is located on the runway area of old Wright Field.
WACO offering biplane rides this summer

The WACO Historical Society invites visitors to take the ride of a lifetime in an antique WACO biplane.

The society's WACO Air Museum at 1865 S. County Road 25A in Troy, Ohio is offering four opportunities this summer for a wind-in-the-hair flight over downtown Troy and the Great Miami River. A ride certificate makes a great Father's Day gift. A personal video of the flight experience is a new option this year.

Ride dates are June 7 and 8, July 11 and 12, Aug. 8-10 and Sept. 12-14. Rides are always weather permitting.

Certificates may be purchased on line at www.wacoairmuseum.org, by calling (937) 335-9226 or by stopping at the museum.

The WACO Air Museum features two hangers of vintage WACO aircraft and historic aviation artifacts. Experience and learn about the "Golden Age of Aviation" in which Dayton and the Miami Valley played such a key role.
