Compassion to Action

The ministry of UIM International seems to continue to expand in more places and greater ways "up and down" North America. It's all His doing. How does it happen?

To answer the question "How does it happen?" there is a clear biblical explanation found in Paul's letter to the Corinthians, specifically 1 Corinthians 3:5-17. Simply put, God is sovereign and He uses us as His servants. "We are God's co-workers" (v.9).

God does not do our bidding, we are to do His. "What is Apollos?" and "What is Paul?" They are "servants" who simply carry out the message of God's saving grace.

UIM is privileged to have a group of dedicated servants in its Board of Directors. UIM is also blessed with a host of faithful men and women who have been gifted of God individually but blended together to serve with one purpose, reaching the indigenous people groups of North America.

UIM is blessed with many faithful prayer warriors and gift-givers who sustain the ministry of UIM International across its varied spectrum of ministries. From aviation flying to where the people are to camping and leadership training ministries producing leaders for indigenous churches, UIM is a synergism of God's grace at work.

Thank you for connecting with UIM International. Thank you for being a servant of Jesus Christ with us, doing your part to reach out with us in North America to lay the foundation of Jesus Christ.

Read on . . . and pray for us!

In Christ,

A Joyous Reunion

October 6 and 7 are the dates for this year's UIM International Board Meeting to be held in Escondido, California. It is a beautiful time of year to be in Escondido, in the San Diego and greater southern California region. It is also a great privilege to be hosted this year by Emmanuel Faith Community Church. EFCC is celebrating its 75th year of ministry. See  http://www.efcc.org/ourstory.

Emmanuel Faith Community Church and UIM International share a long and very blessed ministry together. Under the leadership years ago of Dr. Richard Strauss and the many men in leadership with him, including Jim Welch and DeLisle Calac, their men's ministry, Men on a Mission, is responsible for many of UIM's facilities at Broken Arrow Bible Ranch in New Mexico and the UIM offices that were formerly in Flagstaff, Arizona. We celebrate this special relationship!

After a Monday evening dinner, the board will begin meeting. One of the items the board will be discussing and voting on is governance. The purpose, objective, and goal of good board policy governance are twofold.  First, "ownership" of the organization, as vested in the Board of Directors, is established.  Secondly, responsibility and accountability are delegated to the administrative leadership (vested in the CEO/Executive Director).  This allows the board to focus on overseeing "the big picture vision" and the assigned administration (entrusted to the CEO/Executive Director) to delegate details and to manage.  The result is a more efficient board without a tendency to micromanage.  Policies are defined and refined by the Board of Directors, and implementation of established policy is entrusted to administration, bringing about efficiency at both levels of leadership and ministry objective.

For Your Giving Ways We Give Him Praise

The UIM aviation "Dinner at the Hangar" was held on September 27 at the UIM Tucson hangar. This annual event gives attendees an update on what has been happening within UIM Aviation and what is planned for the next year. Approximately 110 people attended this year with $8,000 received for ministry flights. Thanks to the table sponsors, all of the expenses for the evening were covered, so all of the $8,000 will go to the flight ministry among the Huichol and Tarahumara people.

This year's speakers were Executive Director Dan Fredericks, UIM Aviation Director Bryon Brock, and UIM Aviation missionaries Brent Dodd and Jasson Farmer.

A big "thank you" to all who arranged for the dinner, attended, and participated. Please continue to pray for the ministry. There are a lot of important decisions to be made in the near future.
