Serving with Head, Hands, and Heart
Whenever God does a great work, He always uses multiple heads, hands, and hearts tuned to the Lord and skilled by the Spirit of God. It was true when Solomon set out to build the Temple, when Nehemiah set out to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, and when Jesus said, "I will build my church." God, in His wisdom and way, has chosen to use men and women with Holy Spirit gifting of skilled hands, sound minds, and servant hearts (see 1 Kings 7:13-14; 2 Chronicles 2:14; Nehemiah 4; Matthew 16; Acts 1:8, 14, 15; 2:42; 13:1-5; Philippians 4:3).
UIM International is blessed with varied ministries in varied regions of North America. Each one is important, even as it is different. This great task is not accomplished by the effort of one individual, but rather by many individuals uniquely gifted by our One great Savior and Lord. It is a joy to watch HIM work out HIS purposes through HIS many servants.
Construction with instruction is how the Gospel reaches hearts and changes lives. From short-term projects to flight instruction, we are getting the Gospel to where the people are. Hard work displays the grace of God, and the Gospel is declared in the proclamation of His Word. Everyone shares a part!
In many ways we are connected. This UIM Connection! reveals two good examples of ways you can come alongside UIM International in the great work being accomplished in the cause of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Willing hearts giving of themselves in various skills of head and hand, serving the Lord together from the heart, bring God great glory.
You, too, can be used for His glory. Read. Pray. Come and participate with us!
In Christ Jesus,
Dan Fredericks, Executive Director

Physical and Spiritual Blessings
Having short-term groups join our missionaries in the field for a time of work and ministry is a tremendous blessing. Throughout the year there are many supporters that make the effort to help their missionaries or have heard of UIM and desire to bless in a certain area. |
Rocky Mountain Bible Church Group with Jerry and Linda Yonnie
|
Just recently the Rocky Mountain Bible Church from Frisco, Colorado, blessed Jerry and Linda Yonnie by bringing a group to work on the multipurpose building in Sanders, Arizona. In the fall of 2008, a fire destroyed the building that housed the Líchíí Deez'áhí Bible Church.
Made out of WWII ammunition boxes, the building wasn't very efficient, but it served a purpose. Since it burned down, Jerry has been diligently working with authorities to get blueprints drawn, permits purchased, and Navajo workers hired. During this past winter Navajo workers built the shell, added electricity and plumbing, and it was ready for the drywall when the Rocky Mountain Bible Church group came June 1-8. Not only did some of them hang drywall, but they also held a Vacation Bible School for the children of the community. With the theme of "One Way," they mailed postcards ahead of time to invite the local children to attend.
The work team of four from RMBC and a few Natives were able to hang all of the drywall in the building and begin the taping/texture process. The days were long and hot, but, thankfully, no serious injuries were reported. Nothing a band-aid couldn't handle!
The VBS team had a great time with the kids. It was a four-day club with 41 kids the first day, 48 the second day, 51 the third day, and 55 the last day. There were a total of 19 salvations reported, and the teens who led the children to the Lord were amazed by the way they clearly understood the Gospel message. The VBS program included a lot of singing (the kids loved it and really got into the motions), teaching time, small group time for understanding of the story, snack time, crafts, and games. After the final song was sung on the last day, they all headed out to the church grounds for one final water war. Over 1,000 water balloons exploded in less than five minutes. Everyone got soaked, but there were lots of smiling faces with much laughter.
Please pray that the time Rocky Mountain Bible Church and others spent this summer will be an encouragement to the church in Sanders and a bridge to Christian living for those in the Sanders community.

Caleb Patterson, UIM Intern
UIM Aviation offers an internship to interested high school and college students. It gives the student a view of what happens in a typical day and week of an aviation pilot's life. Caleb Patterson, a young man whose parents are missionaries in Honduras, recently spent two weeks with David and Olivia Wolf in Mexico. |
Caleb Patterson with David and Olivia Wolf
|
Caleb has wanted to be a missionary pilot for several years. He has spent time studying from books and videos but wanted a hands-on experience before attending Grace School of Theology and Ministry in Pleasant Hill, California, in the fall. David and Olivia graciously offered to let Caleb stay in their home. While he was with them, they all flew to Tepic, Nayarit, where they flew the Huichol believers to two villages to preach God's Word for a week. During the same time, Caleb went on training flights with David and another UIM missionary, Jasson Farmer, as they familiarized themselves with the area and airplane. He was given the opportunity to fly on several occasions and learn about mountain flying techniques.
Caleb was impressed with how the airplane is utilized in helping so many different ministries in Mexico. It transports supplies for the tribes and missionaries, provides medical flights, brings in translators and preachers, and so much more. He was also impressed with the way the pilots participate in other local ministries, like helping with vacation Bible school and kids' Bible studies and serving in their local church. After two-years in Bible college, Caleb plans to spend time flight training and then, Lord willing, be in the mission field as a pilot. If you or a student you know would be interested in experiencing an internship with UIM Aviation, you can contact Kevin Dunn at: aviation@uim.org.
