Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have served to defend and protect the United States of America.  Many of our national parks contain monuments which honor those who have given their lives for the freedom of our country.

Freedom is not Free 

 

Memorial Day should be something much more personal to Americans than just a paid day off, backyard barbeque or a sale at a department store.

 

Since 1775, over two million Americans have been killed or wounded in wars and military conflicts, and almost all Americans can look back into their family histories and find relatives who were wounded or killed while serving their country.

Memorial Day has an official National Moment of Remembrance. It occurs at 3 PM local time on Memorial Day. President Clinton signed a memorandum in 2000 to make the time official.
