More than 200 attend Employer Educator Summit

Employers and employees, high school and college educators, students, workforce development staff, economic development professionals, and government officials came together to share success stories and plans to strengthen Iowa's workforce by focusing on our students. Attendees learned about unemployment rates and workforce trends, discovering the need to prepare Millennials and younger generations to fill the gaps left by aging and retiring current workforce, particularly with middle skills, or certified skills. A Summit highlight was hearing from four students of Rock Valley High School share their experience with Rocket Manufacturing, a student-run manufacturing business within the school.

Industrial Technology Instructor Todd Vander Velde explaining Rocket Manufacturing before introducing four of his students to share their experiences with the program.
