Western Iowa Advantage Provides Fringe Benefits Survey

 

Western Iowa Advantage, the 8 county economic development group MWP belongs to, has recently completed a Fringe Benefit Profile for the region they serve. Employer participation was good, with approximately one-third of the region's employers participating. The information provided related to the various benefits offered to their employees and covers all sizes of businesses from small businesses to over 250 employees, as well as a variety of industries represented, such as health care, utilities, finance and insurance and many others.

Western Iowa Advantage is a collaborative effort of economic development officials in Adair, Audubon, Carroll, Crawford, Greene, Guthrie, Ida and Sac Counties. The mission of this consortium is to work cooperatively in an effort to effectively market the many viable economic assets of this region. This effort will help build a stronger local, regional and statewide economy. The results of this work will manifest themselves in job creation in specific industry clusters already prevalent in the region.

Senator Grassley makes annual Audubon County Visit 
 

U.S. Senator Charles Grassley (R)  made his annual visit to Audubon County, wrapping up his 32nd year of visiting all 99 Iowa counties. 

 

Senator Grassley approaches these meetings in a casual format, allowing the crowd to set the agenda and ask the questions. Among the topics discussed were health care reform, the Farm Bill, energy independence and restructuring  rules for HUB zone designations.

Dream Big Grow Here announces contest
                                                                             
The Dream Big, Grow Here business grant contest is an opportunity for Iowans to win one regional $5,000 small business grant and then go on to pitch their business for a shot at a $10,000 grand prize.  
 
To get started, find your regional contest below.  Please keep in mind that each region has different entry requirements, so be sure to read the 'How it Works' section carefully.

MWP to host Business Roundtable Session

The visits have been completed, results have been entered and tabulated, and now MWP is ready to present the information to all the businesses that participated in the Business Connections Program.

As a follow up to the program, and a way to thank and share results with the participating businesses, MWP is hosting a summary of the results and a roundtable discussion for major key players in the economic development field and business owners and managers who participated in the program. County supervisors and utility providers and other important representatives will be on hand to address issues and concerns.

The event will be September 18th  at  the Panora Community Center, 115 W Main Street, Panora. Participants will enjoy complimentary appetizers and social hour prior to the roundtable discussion. The event starts at 6 pm.
