Notes From The Principal As we enter the final month of the school year, the calendar is exploding with so many wonderful activities and learning experiences for our students. Don't forget to look inside this edition of the Palos West News for more details on our exciting events. This is also the time of year when our professional staff begins the planning for next year's classroom assignments. As a fellow parent, I empathize with those of you who want to make sure your child is placed in an environment where he or she has the greatest opportunity for success. Please keep in mind that requests made for a specific teacher are often difficult to accommodate. Therefore, I recommend that if you have information that you wish to share, please write me a letter identifying your child's specific learning style and/or social needs. These letters should be addressed to me and submitted prior to May 20th. They can also be emailed to rcozza@palos118.org. Staying with the theme of future planning....if you know that your child will not be attending Palos West next school year because you intend to move or enroll him/her in another school, please contact our building secretary, Ms. Christine Vent at 761-3802 or cvent@palos118.org so we can plan accordingly. The sooner we know, the earlier we can help you prepare for your transition. The week of May 6th -10th is National Teacher Appreciation Week! Join us in celebrating our teachers for their hard work and dedication to the children in our community. It's a great time of the year to write a personal note or letter, bring in their favorite morning coffee treat, or just say "Thank You" for all that they do! You can also have your child draw a picture, write a note, or make a craft to brighten up their favorite teacher's day. At Palos West, we are so fortunate to have an amazing professional staff, so please join me in celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week! Finally, I would like to take a moment to personally thank the Palos West community for making the last nine years of my professional career an amazing experience. I feel extremely fortunate to be taking along so many wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. The Palos West students, staff, and parents will always have a special place in my heart. As I move over to Palos South this summer, I take great comfort in knowing that I will be seeing you in the years to come
