    Shipping tubes

When I first started working here part time, I was also a Montessori preschool teacher. The children would build "log" cabins

from the sturdy used shipping tubes that Raven donated. Some pretended the tubes were telescopes or telephones. I guess we didn't have cell phones back then!

It's important to use your imagination. They colored the tubes with crayons and colored markers, and even glued on pictures cut from magazines.

Somewhere around your house or place of work there may be things you could donate to a school, too.

    Thomas Wolfe

In 1929 Thomas Wolfe published this auto-
biographical novel set in a fictional town in North Carolina which is commonly recognized as his own hometown of Asheville.

If you are fortunate to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway (469 miles) this time of year, you're in for a real treat.
