Originally the plan was to show you a picture of a delicious bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. It turns out tomatoes are much more photogenic than the sandwich.
If your crop is as good as ours, you're in tomato heaven right now. The weather has been unusual most places in the U.S. this summer, postponing our BLT plans, but homegrown tomatoes are worth the wait.

I have been listening to a book on cd, The Essential Lewis and Clark, edited by Landon Y. Jones, while driving to work and doing errands around town. It's a great way to learn. How nice that we have such a wonderful library here in Medford.
The expedition has reached the Great Falls of the Missouri in Montana. Although they had been told there would be falls ahead, nothing prepared them for the extent of this set of 5 spectacular waterfalls. They were forced to leave the river and portage all their equipment 18 miles before they could get back into the water. It took them a full month. The river drops more than 500' over 18 miles. Remember the St. Johns River in Florida? It drops less than 30' in 300 miles.
