Schwinn Bicycles |
What a fine looking bike this is! It sure brings back memories of my earliest navigation around town on a bike. I was finally independent. I learned how the streets are laid out, where north was, and how to navigate the busy boulevards. I even drew maps so I could remember. The original Schwinn Bike Factory was in Chicago in the 1950's, and before long, Chicago became the bike factory capital of the country with over 30 factories. Angle of Repose |

Wallace Stegner
Another Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Wallace Stegner, pens a novel about a man who wants to write a biography of his grandparents. Stegner's character draws upon letters of a real pioneer woman who lived in Colorado, Mexico, California and Idaho.
The term angle of repose refers to the angle at which granular material, e.g.sand or wheat, can be piled and still remain stable. At some point, the material will slide down if it is heaped up too steeply.
