Route 66 was the brainchild of Oklahoma businessman Cyrus Avery. By 1927, the "Father of Route 66" had worked tirelessly to promote a good highway system in the United States. The original secton of Route 66 was from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Amarillo, Texas.
