Levy Park Renovation
North Road Completion Close, Pavilion Continues to Develop

Pavilion Structure Taking Shape
Work this week at Levy Park continued with paver and concrete sidewalk installation throughout the project as well as with the block walls of the pavilion and restroom structure. Crews were also able to form and begin placing concrete on the south side of the north access road.

Brick and Concrete Pathway Construction
Over the coming week, work will entail the completion of the north roadway, continued electric work throughout the park, framing for the concrete roof of the performance pavilion and drilling foundation shafts for the children's overlook structure.

Upper Kirby Construction
Bissonnet Gearing up for Weekend Work
Westheimer Reconstruction: Kirby to Shepherd
Final Back of Curb Work Being Installed

Crews continued to play catch-up on Westheimer this week after the wet weather we've seen over the past month.

Final waterline connections were completed at Westgate and new concrete has been placed. General restoration work and sidewalk ramp installation continued as well.

All work on overhead utilities on both the private property side as well as within the public right-of-way is now complete and we are anxiously awaiting the scheduling of the overhead pole removal by Center  Point Energy.

Crews are also preparing to begin surface improvements on Persa and Peckham street due to severe pot hole damage adjacent to the Westheimer project site. The contractor's intent was to begin this work early in June, however, they have suffered damage to the asphalt machine and have been delayed somewhat while the machine is repaired. Look for updates as this work is scheduled. At this point, it is anticipated that work will be ready to begin here around the last part of June.

Bissonnet Reconstruction: Kirby to Buffalo Speedway
Current Pedestrian Amenities on Bissonnet

Work on Bissonnet did not begin last week as was anticipated. Weather impacts have slowed materials production on the manufacturer's end and project contractor, ISI is awaiting delivery of key materials prior to setting up traffic control.

Work will begin at the Kirby/Bissonnet intersection and it is expected that crews will be ready to begin here late this week. The hope is to have construction begin in the intersection on storm sewer tie-ins late Friday and have contractors work through the weekend, completing the storm work and reopening the intersection by 5:00 AM Monday morning.
Pedestrian access to transit on Bissonnet

The project will include a complete concrete road reconstruction with improvements to water, sanitary and storm facilities as well as the Upper Kirby Management District's installation of a sorely needed pedestrian-oriented streetscape. As you can see in the photos above, Bissonnet has no pedestrians because pedestrian facilities are either inadequate or absent all together. It is anticipated that the project will take approximately one year to complete.

Look for further updates as this schedule is finalized.

Westheimer Reconstruction: Kirby to Buffalo Speedway

Roadway reconstruction, storm drainage improvements and pedestrian amenities will continue west of Kirby later this year. The project to bid in July and construction should start here around the late August, early September time frame. I

Look for further updates as this schedule is finalized.

Shepherd Reconstruction: Westheimer to US 59

The Upper Kirby District is preparing to begin design on the drainage and pavement improvements project on Shepherd between Westheimer and US 59 over the next several months. This construction will provide storm drainage improvement, new pavement, utility relocation and complete streetscape and pedestrian improvements.

Construction will likely follow Westheimer work in the 2017/2018 time frame.
