Upper Kirby Construction

Westheimer Reconstruction: Kirby to Shepherd

The entirety of the roadway along Westheimer from

rbside lane in short sections at various locations alon
g the project site during working houKirby to Shepherd has been
paved and is open to traffic. Crews will be closing the cu
rs to complete tree installations, irrigation work and brick paver
placement. Motorists should expect these curbside closures to run about 20 to 50

feet in length as work is underway and to be removed at the of each work day.
Utility poles are still in place on Westheimer awaiting some work on private properties that will allow connections to power to be established underground or from the backs of the property. Once these efforts are completed, the poles will be removed and the sidewalk panels placed where they have been blocked out. Private utility work is currently awaiting City permitting and, once approved, should take about two weeks to complete.

Westheimer Reconstruction: Kirby to Buffalo Speedway

Roadway reconstruction, storm drainage improvements and pedestrian amenities will continue west of Kirby later this year. The project has not yet been bid for construction as Upper Kirby is waiting on AT&T to complete design of their underground facilities so that the overhead utility poles can be removed. It is estimated that their work could be complete by late spring allowing construction to begin on the roadway early summer.

Look for further updates as this schedule is finalized.

Bissonnet Reconstruction: Kirby to Buffalo Speedway

Utility duct banks have been constructed on Bissonnet between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway and are awaiting utility transfers. Roadwork is anticipated to begin in the first quarter of 2016.

Look for further updates as this project is finalized.

Shepherd Reconstruction: Westheimer to US 59

The Upper Kirby District is preparing to begin design on the drainage and pavement improvements project on Shepherd between Westheimer and US 59 over the next several months. This construction will provide storm drainage improvement, new pavement, utility relocation and complete streetscape and pedestrian improvements.

Construction will likely follow Westheimer work in the 2017/2018 time frame.

The Upper Kirby District has Moved Offices

Over the holidays, Upper Kirby District staff began the move from its longtime home
at 3015 Richmond to 3120 Southwest Freeway.

The new offices are located just east of Buffalo Speedway and just west of the Girl Scouts building on the north side of US 59.

The new District office can be found in Suite, 102--immediately adjacent to the building lobby. Thank you for your patience through the transition.
