The Upper Kirby District has Moved Offices

Over the holidays, Upper Kirby District staff began the move from its longtime home
at 3015 Richmond to 3120 Southwest Freeway.

The new offices are located just east of Buffalo Speedway and just west of the Girl Scouts building on the north side of US 59.

The new District office will ultimately be located in Suite 102--immediately adjacent to the building lobby, however, while build-out is being completed, staff can be reached at the temporary office in Suite 300.

Staff expects to move to the permanent space before the end of the month.
Upper Kirby Construction
Final Junction Box Placement Next Week

Westheimer Reconstruction: Kirby to Shepherd

New pavement is complete along the southern lanes of Westheimer save for the remaining non-signalized intersections at Westgate, Revere and Argonne. These intersections require junction boxes that allow storm inlet lead lines to be installed around conflicting underground AT&T facilities.

The junction box at Westgate has been installed and pavement has been replaced at the intersection. Minor water line work and wet connections have been completed. These connections will continue over the coming week at other locations. It is expected that the block between Westgate and Newman on the south side of Westheimer will be opened to traffic next week.

The junction box at Argonne has been installed as well and pavement placement will begin here shortly. Once Westgate is fully open to traffic, installation of the final junction box at Revere will be completed.

Sidewalk work on the south side of Westheimer continued this week and will remain underway over the next several weeks alongside placement of pedestrian lighting and streetscape amenities.

Curb work will also be a focus over the coming week. Crews expect to place curb between Westgate and Kirby as well as for the median island between Argonne and Kirby over the next week.

We are looking at approximately two more weeks before street pavement is fully complete. Landscaping and back of curb amenity installation will continue through February.

Look for further updates as the project progresses.

Bissonnet Reconstruction: Kirby to Buffalo Speedway

Utility duct banks have been constructed on Bissonnet between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway and are awaiting utility transfers. Roadwork is anticipated to begin in the first quarter of 2016.

Look for further updates as this project is finalized.

Shepherd Reconstruction: Westheimer to US 59

The Upper Kirby District is preparing to begin design on the drainage and pavement improvements project on Shepherd between Westheimer and US 59 over the next several months. This construction will provide storm drainage improvement, new pavement, utility relocation and complete streetscape and pedestrian improvements.

Construction will likely follow Westheimer work in the 2017/2018 time frame.
