Upper Kirby Construction
Pavement Work Continues on Westheimer's Center Lanes

Westheimer Reconstruction: Kirby to Shepherd
Pavement Excavation Along the Center of Westheimer

Pavement Placement on the north side of Westheimer between Shepherd and Kirby has now been completed east of Shepherd intersection to Hudly and has shifted to the center section of the roadway.

Reytec has continued to take advantage of the dry weather and have made significant progress on concrete placement in a short amount of time. Pavement work along the center of the roadway has been completed between Shepherd and Peckham and it is expected that another pour will occur this week between Kingston and Dickey. Pavement preparation activity will take place this week between Kingston and Greenbriar as well.

Also completed over the past week was the installation of all pedestrian lighting and street lighting foundations along the north side of the roadway. Framing for sidewalk along the north side of Westheimer should begin shortly.

Once the Center of the roadway is complete, work will begin on the south side of Westheimer at Shepherd and aim to get work to Greenbriar as quickly as possible. At the current pace, crews hope to have the roadway pavement completed this fall.

Levy Park Renovation
Mobilization Underway

View From New Wakeforest Frontage
The renovation of Levy Park officially began Monday though contractors are still mobilizing for construction and work has not yet actually begun. The first step will be installation of the perimeter fencing that will close off the park. This could occur any day.

The long awaited commencement of the park construction will mark the beginning of a 12 month process that will transform Levy Park from an underutilized park to a vibrant and active public place.

The renovation will entail an improved community garden, expanded dog park facilities, an event lawn and performance pavilion, one-of-a-kind children's play area, an activity lawn with outdoor games, interactive water, food and drink and curated, year-round programming.
Temporary Dog Park Will Remain Open During Construction
There will be no public access to the park during construction, however, the active dog walking community in Levy Park will still have access to the temporary dog run facilities as the permanent improvements are constructed.
