The intent of this RFA is to expand full-day/full-year CSPP services statewide. To expand CSPP services this RFA funding opportunity is available to existing CSPP contracted agencies, to existing contracted agencies that do not have a CSPP contract, or to new agencies without EESD program contracts. These funds are intended to increase the availability of CSPP services to eligible children. In accordance with existing law, priority will be given to applicant agencies that will be serving the highest percentage of 4-year-old children.
CDE: California Career Pathways Consortium Development Grant

State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB): Drought Response Outreach Program for Schools (DROPS) Deadline: January 15, 2015

DROPS is focused on projects that reduce storm water pollution and provide multiple benefits including water conservation, water supply augmentation, energy savings, increased awareness of water resource sustainability, and reduced dry weather runoff. All projects must include an education/outreach component that is designed to increase student and public understanding of the project's environmental benefits and the sustainability of California's water resources directly related to the project.
US Soccer Foundation: Safe Places to Play Grants

Safe Places to Play grants are available in four categories: Synthetic Turf, Lighting, Irrigation, and Sport Court. Multi-sport field projects are eligible for funding, but such fields must be used a majority of the time for soccer. Multi-field projects are also eligible. All Safe Places to Play grants (except for Irrigation) can be awarded for either indoor or outdoor field projects. Safe Places to Play grantees have 12 months from the date of the award announcement to use their funding. Applicants must submit an LOI describing basics of the project prior to being approved to submit a full application for funding.

The Captain Planet Foundation supports educational programs that enable youth to understand and appreciate our world by getting involved in hands-on projects to improve the environment. The Foundation is interested in funding innovative programs that inspire youth to participate in community service through environmental stewardship activities. An additional priority is to fund programs that encourage environment-based education in schools. Nonprofit organizations and public schools may apply for grants of $500 to $2,500. Priority is given to projects with matching funds and/or in-kind support.

President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities: National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards Deadline: February 2, 2015 Amount: $10,000 Match: None Eligibility: Programs initiated by museums, libraries, performing arts organizations, schools and universities, arts centers, community service organizations, and government agencies are encouraged to apply. The National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards, sponsored by the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, recognize excellence in after-school and out-of-school arts and humanities programs for underserved children and youth. These programs offer high-quality and intensive instruction on weekends, afternoons, and summer vacations, providing a safe and productive space for young people in the hours when they are often the most vulnerable. Twelve winners will receive a $10,000 award and an invitation to accept their award at a White House ceremony.
CDE: Education for Homeless Children and Youth

The purpose of the program is to (1) facilitate the enrollment, attendance, and success in school of homeless children and youth; and (2) ensure homeless children and youth have equal access to the same free, appropriate, public education as provided to all other students. Services provided cannot replace the regular academic program and must be designed to expand or improve services that are part of the school's regular academic program.

Applicants must target K-14 career pathway programs that provide students with a sequenced pathway of integrated academic and career-based education and training, aligned to current or emerging regional economic needs. Career pathway programs are designed to lead students to a postsecondary degree or certification in a high-skill, high-wage, and high-growth field. The overarching goal of the CCPT is to build robust partnerships between employers, schools, and community colleges in order to better prepare students for the 21st century workplace and improve student transition into postsecondary education, training, and employment.
CDE: After School Education & Safety (ASES) Grant Program

The After School Education and Safety (ASES) Program is the result of the 2002 voter-approved initiative, Proposition 49. These programs are created through partnerships between schools and local community resources to provide literacy, academic enrichment and safe, constructive alternatives for students in kindergarten through ninth grade. Funding is designed to: (1) maintain existing before and after school program funding; and (2) provide eligibility to all elementary and middle schools that submit quality applications throughout California. The Renewal application is for existing grant recipients who wish to continue funding at existing levels. The Universal application is for new applicants and for existing grant recipients who wish to increase funding. Approximately $10 million in funding is available for ASES Universal grants. The remaining funds are obligated for on-going grants funded via the Renewal application.
CDE Summer Food Service Program (Allocation)

Funding provides reimbursement for meals served to children who are on school vacation in areas where 50 percent of the children qualify for free or reduced-price school meals. Camp sites may receive reimbursement for serving meals to children who are income eligible. Non-school agencies may be reimbursed for snacks in afterschool settings. Summer sites must be established to serve all children in the community while on school vacation and not enrolled for day care. Meals must be served to all children at the same time. Sponsoring agencies serving snacks after school, must serve meals during summer vacation. Application results are provided within 30 days.
CDE Microsoft Education Technology K-12 Voucher Program

This is a new round of funding for the Microsoft Education Technology K-12 Voucher Program which is intended to assist districts with implementation and support of their state-approved district technology plans. The vouchers can be redeemed for a variety of goods and services related to technology, including any computer platform that the school or district specifies. The vouchers will be in the form of 50 percent General Purpose Vouchers and 50 percent Specific Category Software Vouchers.

The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a state and federally funded program that provides funding to licensed child care centers, adult day care centers, and organizations that sponsor day care homes to ensure participants receive nutritionally adequate meals and snacks while in care. Funding is also available for meals and snacks at emergency shelters and afterschool programs.

Funding supports five school meal and milk programs to assist schools, districts, and other nonprofit agencies in providing nutritious meals and milk to children at reasonable prices or free to qualified applicants. After their training is complete, teachers receive a donation of curricula, instruments and other resources so that they can launch Modern Band music programming for students at their schools.

Video Insight Security Grant

Video Insight has developed the School Security Grant to help schools that lack funds implement a video surveillance solution and to give back to these communities in need. Beginning in January 2014 - and for each month throughout the year - a school or college will be chosen to receive the software and equipment necessary to implement a video surveillance solution. Each Video Insight School Security Grant recipient will receive the following equipment: 48 Video Insight Video Management Software (VMS) licenses; 16 IP video surveillance cameras; 1 video encoder; 10 years of the Video Insight Software Upgrade Program (SUP). Department of Water Resources (DWR): Urban Streams Restoration Program

The Urban Streams Restoration Program (USRP) provides grants to local communities for projects to reduce flooding and erosion and associated property damages; restore, enhance, or protect the natural ecological values of streams; and promote community involvement, education, and stewardship. Since 1985, the program has provided over 240 grants ranging from $1,000 to $1 million to communities throughout California. The projects have included stream cleanups, bank stabilization projects, re-vegetation efforts, re-contouring of channels to improve floodplain function and occasional acquisition of strategic floodplain properties or easements.
US Bureau of Reclamation: WaterSMART - Water and Energy Efficiency Grants

Funders' Network: Partners for Places Grant Program Deadline: January 28, 2015 Amount: $25,000 - $75,000 Match: dollar-for-dollar match required Eligibility: A proposal must be submitted by a team of at least two partners -- the sustainability director of a city or a county, and local, place-based foundation(s) http://www.fundersnetwork.org/partnersforplaces/ Partners for Places, an initiative of the Funders' Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities, is a matching grant program that creates opportunities for cities and counties in the United States and Canada to improve communities by building partnerships between local government sustainability offices and place-based foundations. Through the program, funders invest in local projects to promote a healthy environment, a strong economy, and well-being of all residents. For Round 6, grants will range between $25,000 and $75,000 per year for up to two years, with a one-to-one match required by one or more local, place-based foundations. The proposal must be submitted by a team of at least two partners consisting of the sustainability director of a city or a county, and the local, place-based foundation(s).

The Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) provides grant funding to help local agencies address and create awareness of local traffic safety problems by conducting "best practice" strategies. There are two types of grants available: General Grants and Grants Made Easy (GME). The General Grant program will fund project that seek use "best practice" strategies to address and prevent traffic safety problems. Under the GME program, an eligible applicant may apply for one of 3 prefabricated applications each with its own goals and objectives for the topics of Selective Traffic Enforcement Programs (STEP); Emergency Medical Services (EMS); and Probation.

CA Department of Parks & Recreation (CA State Parks): Land Water Conservation Fund

California Department of Parks and Recreation and its Office of Grants and Local Assistance (OGALS), in partnership with the National Park Service (NPS) offers the Land Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) to provide funding for cities and counties to acquire, develop, operate and maintain park and recreation areas and facilities. Priority development projects include trails, campgrounds, picnic areas, natural areas and cultural areas for recreational use. Property acquired or developed under the program must be maintained in perpetuity for public outdoor recreation use.

HCD: Housing-Related Parks (HRP) Program

The HRP Program is designed to encourage cities and counties to develop new residential housing by rewarding those jurisdictions that approve housing affordable to lower-income households and are in compliance with State housing element law with funding for the creation of new parks or rehabilitation or improvements to existing parks. The grant's purpose is to increase the overall supply of housing affordable to lower income households by providing financial incentives to cities and counties with documented housing starts for newly constructed units affordable to very low or low-income households while also improving local parks and recreational opportunities.
Department of Water Resources (DWR): Flood Emergency Response Projects Statewide Grants (Round 2)

The purpose of this grant is to provide grant funding for local emergency responders to work with the DWR to improve local flood emergency preparedness and response. Under this grant program, the DWR will provide financial assistance through a grant agreement with participating agencies to ensure local agencies have a robust flood emergency plan in place with adequate flood preparedness and response capacity and resources.

The Hardwood Forestry Fund supports sustainable forestry by funding selective tree planting, direct seeding, natural regeneration, management, and hardwood research requests. Member forest products companies, foundations, and individuals provide funding for Hardwood Forestry Fund projects. The Fund supports projects on public land including state, local, or university land, or on property owned by non-profit organizations. The land must be allocated for multiple use. The Fire Management Assistance Grant Program (FMAGP) funds the mitigation, management, and control of fires on publicly or privately owned forests or grasslands, which threaten such destruction as would constitute a major disaster. The purpose of LIWP is to install cost-effective energy efficiency ("weatherization") measures and solar photovoltaic (PV) in the residences of qualifying low-income households to reduce energy use and to reduce GHG emissions.
