Experiencing Heaven's Mystery!

"The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law."
Deut. 29:29 NASB

I love prayer!

Have you ever noticed how many different definitions there are regarding the topic of prayer?  In our present christian culture therr is just as many definitions for the word prayer as there are types of prayer - warring prayer, intercessory prayer, meditative prayer, the prayer of the righteous, the listening prayer, the sinner's prayer . . . just to name a few.

All good and descriptive and in some cases worthwhile.  However, the evidence of any "prayer" should be the answer or the redirection toward a more glorifying prayer, thus resulting in an answer.  The end result still being an answer or better put and "encounter".

Let me add one more definition to the long list of qualifiers that you probably already possess regarding prayer.  I believe that prayer is the communion of the Father's mystery veiled heart with our prying, inquisitive heart.  I ask, He reveals . . . He reveals, I ask.  Over time this becomes an intimate and exhilarating relationship of transformation and truth.

This type of communion is founded on two simple truths (in my opinion and you are welcome to yours :):

1.  God longs to reveal the mystery of Himself to us!

2.  Ask and you shall receive!

So if God wants to reveal Himself to us, why not search Him out.  How do we do this, through communion/conversation: prayer and all it's forms, types and expressions.

Here's a recent quote I found regarding the engagement of communion through prayer:  "it (prayer) sockets the immediate past into the immediate future and makes a flexible, living joint of them."  Eugene Peterson

Wow! Our prayer life is to exist as an intersection to the past and future.  We could therefore say that prayer is the experiential point of heaven and earth meeting.  Worth pondering . . .

Are your prayers getting answered?  If not then let's find out why; it might be as simple as redefining prayer or as revolutionary as encountering Jesus Himself.

Join me as we look at exploring this topic in our prayer training workshop and on Sundays staring in March!
