Featured Production Client: Jordan Schmidt
Key Assistant Location Manager Jordan Schmidt is one of the busiest in the business. For nine years, he's been scouting the streets of Los Angeles for shows like ABC's 'The Mentalist' and 'Mistresses', NBC's 'Parenthood' and films like Atlas Shrugged II. We caught up with Jordan last week scouting buildings for the TNT Series 'Perception' and he was kind enough to give us an interview.
 How did you get into location management?
It's a career I didn't plan on, and discovered while I was a production assistant trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my film industry career. It seemed like the perfect job for someone who can't sit still, loves to talk and needs to be out and about. After pleading with the Location Manager, I worked my way into the team at the CBS TV Series 'JAG' in 2005. Since then, I've worked pretty much non-stop in the industry.
What do you love most about your work?
Every day is like a field trip. One day I'm scouting beaches. The next I'm in the City of Vernon with a hard hat on, scouting a beer bottle plant. I get direction from the script and producers, but where I end up scouting is really up to me. So without veering off track, I sometimes selfishly scout things I have always been curious about. This makes me want to go out and pound that pavement every day. There's nothing like taking the subway downtown and scouting on my feet, building after building. I really do enjoy it.
What do you do when you're not working?
I love to travel. Whether it's internationally or to visit family and friends in other cities, I try to get out of Los Angeles when I'm not working.
