Dear Friend of CCSD93,
Carol Stream School Innovation Center Dedicated!
Last night, we held the official Dedication of the completely renovated Carol Stream School Innovation Center!

I was overwhelmed by the support from our community as we welcomed officials from the Carol Stream Public Library, The Carol Stream Police Department, The Village of Carol Stream, the Illinois State Senate, SCARCE, Carol Stream School staff, and other CCSD93 staff members.
The Innovation Center is a total redesign and renovation of the former Library Learning Center. It will be a hub for student learning, sharing, creating, and innovating. Its features are conducive to modern learning and can accommodate an array of learning environments, depending on what's needed. The improvements include:
  • The ability to accommodate more classrooms for different activities at once.
  • Natural lighting from an installed roof skylight.
  • Access to technology and 21st century learning tools like SMART Panels.
  • Shared tables for students to collaborate and learn.
  • Comfortable, flexible, and ergonomically correct seating.
  • Warm colors and natural-looking floors.
  • Varying ceiling heights.
  • An open concept featuring moveable seating and tables to accommodate any setup.
Here's a photo of local dignitaries posing for a ribbon cutting photo last night.

Roy DeShane School also received an Innovation Center redesign throughout the summer and will receive its Dedication on September 8! Elsie Johnson School received an Innovation Center redesign in the summer of 2015. As it comes time for CCSD93 to address the modern learning needs of students at additional school buildings, we are committed to continuing to research the elements that will help students most and apply them to school LLCs, transforming them into Innovation Centers.
Middle School Monday Homework Club Starts 9/12
Would your middle school student benefit from staying after school on Mondays to complete homework in a quiet, supervised setting?

CCSD93 is offering a Monday Homework Club for middle school students after school on Mondays. Students will be provided with appropriate supervision and a safe environment to independently complete homework, study, and/or read for enjoyment. Students should bring homework materials and a book to read to each session. Monday Homework Club is separate from the Homework Intervention Program (HIP) and is designated exclusively for Mondays.

View this flyer for more details and to sign up. The online form won't be up until next week, but we'll be accepting paper signups on Monday.
Please Be Safe When Driving Near Schools
I'd just like to give you a brief reminder of a few safety tips to keep in mind as you drive in school zones.
  • Please do not use cell phones near a school.
  • Be aware of lower speed limits.
  • Please double-check your surroundings before maneuvering to ensure there are no small children nearby.
  • Follow the directions of crossing guards.
  • Do not idle cars while waiting to drop off or pick up students. We need to keep our air clean for our children!

Morning care will start as early as 6:30 a.m. until the start of the school day, while afternoon care will extend from the end of school until as late as 6:30 p.m.
