CCSD93 strives to maximize the academic, social, and emotional potential of each student by utilizing world-class educational practices in partnership with parents, staff, and community.
Dear Friend of CCSD93,
Welcome to the 2016-17 School Year!
For those of you receiving this email for the first time, welcome to Community Consolidated School District 93's Enews! Every Friday throughout the school year, we'll send you relevant information on important events, news, programs, and services throughout CCSD93. For those of you who have received Enews before, welcome back!
We couldn't be more excited for the start of the 2016-17 school year, which is just a week from today. CCSD93's mission is to strive to maximize the academic, social, and emotional potential of each student by utilizing world-class educational practices in partnership with parents, staff, and the community. Our efforts during the summer enable us to achieve our mission throughout the school year.

We've spent the summer scheduling for the school year, hiring staff members, preparing curriculum, updating procedures and policies, undergoing professional development, and more to provide our students with the best educational experience possible this school year. Here are a few of CCSD93's major projects and accomplishments from the summer.
  • CCSD93 held its first ever STEM Summer Camp, allowing students to explore robotics and the properties of water in an exciting and educational environment.

  • The Band and Orchestra programs welcomed students who honed their musical craft together, with the Band performing at the Schaumburg Boomers game.

  • More than 200 CCSD93 staff members attended our Summer Technology Academy to learn about and share innovative ways to incorporate technology into the classroom.

  • Carol Stream School and Roy DeShane School's Library Learning Centers (LLCs) both received much-needed updates. Now known as Innovation Centers (ICs), these spaces will accommodate a wider variety of activities and be much more conducive toward student critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication skills.

  • Cloverdale School, Heritage Lakes School, and Western Trails School opened the doors to their LLCs, along with Elsie Johnson School's IC, to all elementary students to check out books and participate in fun literacy activities several times throughout the summer.

  • Roy DeShane School's front entrance has been renovated to improve safety.

  • Jay Stream Middle School's parking lot has been converted to a permeable paver lot. Permeable paver lots are much more environmentally sound than asphalt lots and provide savings over the life of the lot due to significantly lower maintenance costs.

  • CCSD93 partnered with several local organizations to provide more than 1,000 meals to children in need at the Carol Stream Summer Lunch program.
At CCSD93, we pride ourselves on providing a wide array of excellent educational opportunities for students. We hope the 2016-17 school year gets off to a great start for you next Friday!

Next Friday, August 19, we'll welcome all preschool through 8th grade students back for the first day of school.  Here are the hours for Friday.

Morning Preschool:    8:15-11 a.m.

Afternoon Preschool:    12:35-3:20 p.m.

Elementary Students:    8:45 a.m.-3:45 p.m.

Middle School Students:   8 a.m.-3:15 p.m.

Don't forget, every Monday we will continue to have an abbreviated schedule to enable more professional development for staff, which improves student learning opportunities. Elementary and middle school students will be released 90 minutes earlier while preschool students will be released 45 minutes earlier.
Attend Meet the Teacher 8/18
On Thursday, August 18, all CCSD93 schools will hold Meet the Teacher times for parents and students to stop by and get to know their teacher and classroom a bit before the start of the school year. It's a good way to for our students to familiarize themselves with their learning environment and be that much more prepared to learn when they arrive for the first day of school. I encourage all students and parents to stop in during these times.

Early Childhood Center:   8:30-11:30 a.m.

Middle Schools:   11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Elementary Schools:   2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
Do You Need Before- or After-Care for Your Student?
CCSD93 has worked with the Carol Stream Park District to ensure that the families of our elementary students have affordable before- and after-care available to them every day, including after school on Monday when the school day is shorter. Morning care will start as early as 6:30 a.m. until the start of the school day, while afternoon care will extend from the end of school until as late as 6:30 p.m.
