Government Fleet, January/February 2016
The City of Seattle was another early adopter of EV technology. In 2011, it was one of the first fleets in the nation to deploy all-electric vehicles into a municipal fleet, starting with 26 Nissan Leaf motor pool vehicles and 17 others distributed to various city departments.

Renewable Energy Group, the Iowa company that bought Imperium Renewables' big biodiesel facility last summer, says its plans at the Grays Harbor plant "do not include handling crude oil." 
Nevertheless, the company is still pursuing an expansion at the site that would allow it to store other commodities.

Electric utilities aren't exactly known as hotbeds of innovation. In fact, they're quite the opposite. They move slowly, they are very conservative, and they need approval from state regulators to make any significant changes to their businesses. So the idea of a utility monopolizing the EV charging experience in its service area makes a lot of people uneasy.

Want to fill up your Mack with renewable diesel fuel? Mack Trucks just gave you the green light.
The Greensboro, N.C.-based truck manufacturer on Thursday signed off on the use of renewable diesel in all Mack engines. The approval followed extensive truck and engine testing, Mack said.

General Motors unveiled a prototype of the production version of the all-electric Chevy Bolt, a car the automaker intends to help lead the way into the world of car sharing. The car, which goes into production later this year, will get 200 miles per battery charge and is expected to cost less than $30,000, once government rebates are factored in.

Oil prices have been falling in a historical collapse. Oil prices are now down a staggering 79% from the 20-year high of $145.29 notched on July 3, 2008, according to Bloomberg data. Oil prices are getting decimated as the massive oversupply of crude overwhelms normal demand levels.

In part because of the success demonstrated in California, both Oregon and British Columbia have also adopted low carbon transportation policies, and they are setting precedent for the rest of the world. This means that approximately 5 billion gallons of diesel are now under low carbon fuel policies on the West Coast.

Alliance Autogas has gained approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to produce bi-fuel propane-autogas versions of vehicles powered by Ford's 6.8L V-10 and General Motors' 6.0L V-8 spark-ignited engines through its equipment developer Blossman Services, Inc.

NASA research aimed at cutting fuel consumption, pollution and noise from airplanes could pay off for the nation's airlines to the tune of more than $250 billion dollars, the agency said this week. Green technologies developed by the research project are expected to save billions of gallons of fuel if implemented.
