Music this Sunday
Our music this Sunday features some favorite hymns (you'll just have to come and see which ones), and music by Duke Ellington and Aaron Copland. I will be joined by Connie Pawelczak, who will be accompanying Susan Gates.  My piano contribution is limited to the closing voluntary, with Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man.  This piece was commissioned by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, who requested 18 fanfares to begin each of its1942-43 orchestral concerts. According to Wikipedia," It was written in response to the US entry into World War II and was inspired in part by a famous 1942 speech where vice president Henry A. Wallace proclaimed the dawning of the Century of the Common Man." The opening voluntary, Come Sunday, is from Duke Ellington's extended jazz work, Black, Brown, and Beige. This work represents Ellington's longest and most ambitious piece, and is his representation of the history of the Negro in America. The offertory and communion pieces are from Copland's Old American Songs. We hope that you will enjoy this all American tribute.

Summer Hours are Ending
September 4 is the last day of our summer schedule. On September 11, we will return to 8a.m. and 10a.m. in the main church. Our annual parish wide picnic will occur immediately after the 10a.m. service. Music for 9/11 will acknowledge the 15th anniversary of 9/11.

AUGUST is a Mysterious Month
at All Saints' 9:30am Service....

mystery club
Last Week for The SUMMER MYSTERY CLUB!

The Summer Mystery Club is a fun program for all kids at the 9:30am service- everyone is invited.
The kids join Brian and me to work with a Detective from ACME Detective agency to follow clues and solve a mystery. Each week we catch the kids up on what has happened before, so it is no problem if they can't be here for all 4 Sundays. The mystery club meets right before the start of the 9:30am service and runs during the normal church school time.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the Mystery Club- I can be reached by email at laura.marshall@comcast.net

Father Above, make each of us a sanctuary for Christ in the world. Direct the works of our hands, the words from our lips, and the prayers that we pray.  Bless our Living Stones campaign that as we give out of our abundance to make improvements to your House, your Spirit will renew us as a community of praise and service, united to one another and to the world you love in your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen.

Announcement - Budget 2017
Requests for Funding
The following is a "new" budgeting procedure implemented by the Finance Committee and sanctioned by the Vestry, in order to get a better "handle" on developing an accurate operating budget and, to best determine the needs of All Saints Parishioners. Your cooperation in helping us to help you, is greatly appreciated.

If you or your committee has a church "Activity, Program or Event" (i.e. Out-Reach Program-Fundraiser, yard sale etc.) and are looking for funds or need seed money (funds in advance) to start your church project or program for the next fiscal year of 2017, you must first fill out and submit, a "Request for Funding" application.

If you "Oversee" a budgeted line item or items in the All Saints 2017 Budget you must also fill out and submit to the Finance Committee a "Request for Funding" application. This applies to most but not necessarily all line items in the budget.

FORMS: "Request for Funding" forms will soon be available on-line, at the back of the church and in the office during regular office hours. The forms must be either hand delivered, mailed to the church office or E-mailed to - aschurch@allsaintschelmsford.org and labeled Attention Fin-Com. This form must be received by the close of business Friday September 16th.

NOTE: Any request for funds submitted after the budget has been approved and a "Request for Funding Application" has not been submitted by September 16th, probably will not be funded for the 2017 Fiscal Year.

Welcome Back Cookout
The Welcome back cookout will be held on Sunday, September 11th after the 10 AM service - rain or shine.

The Parish Life Committee will take care of providing and cooking hot dogs, hamburgers and veggie burgers (plus all the fixings).  We'll provide chips and cold drinks too.

We would appreciate donations of salads, sides, and desserts.  Bringing a dish to share is not required but if you feel so moved, please bring something from one of the above three categories.

Please join us as we kick-off the church school year, reconnect with friends and family you may not have seen in a while and enjoy what's left of the beautiful summer weather.

The New Program Year
is almost upon us and I would encourage all leaders and groups to submit space reservation requests for your meetings and events for 2016-2017. You may go to our web site at allsaintschelmsford.org and fill out a space reservation request that will automatically come to my email address.  Requests have already started coming in, so please don't assume that last year's time and space are available.  All requests should go through the church office.
Here's to another busy and successful year.

Parish Administrator
