Musical Notes Music Staff
Music for Sunday follows the Ascension Day propers, rather than Easter 7. Ascension Day is an important feast day that is the 40th day of Easter, and always falls on a Thursday. It commemorates Jesus Christ's ascension into heaven, so the lessons you hear on Sunday will also be the lessons for that day.

In addition to its being an important feast day, Ascension Day has some great hymns and anthems associated with it, so that's another reason to observe the day. The Parish Choir's anthem by Welsh composer, William Mathias (1934-1992) is also a jumping off point for today's music. Entitled "Lift up your heads, O ye gates," you will hear a lot of dissonances and rhythmic drive.

Mathias also composed the Gloria and Sanctus that we sing every Easter, so I have inserted them into this service so that you can see that the musical style is similar. Additionally, I have done some serious dusting off of his organ piece, Processional, which, in my opinion, goes through periods of stately and whimsical.

As a major contrast, the closing voluntary (as well as last week's), is written by American composer Robert J. Powell, who also composed the service music we have been singing this Easter season.
Holy and Ever Loving Father we ask your blessings over our Living Stones Capital Campaign.   May we be ever faithful to your will, loving and compassionate towards each other, and discerning in our endeavors.   We ask that you abide with us as we prayerfully consider the potential of our contributions, the promise of the campaign, and our role as faithful stewards of this place.   May God the Father encourage us, May Jesus the Great Healer remove fears and obstacles from our midst, and May the Holy Spirit unite us in purpose.  Amen.
Prayer as First Resort
will be on Tuesday, May 10th 7:30-8:45 pm in the Blue and Cranberry Rooms.

If you would like to learn more about Prayer as First Resort, please contact Deb Dutton (debdutton@hotmail.com) or Lynne Grillo (lynne@odic.com).

Cooks and Support Teams Needed

Our annual feeding mission at the Epiphany School in Dorchester, B-Safe, is on July 5 and 6 this year. We prepare the meal for 140 here, drive it in, and serve. The B-Safe program is a Diocesan-run free day camp for at risk Boston youth, and is held at several sites throughout the city. Please let Maggie Marshall know if you are able to help cook, serve, or offer financial support.

A Huge Thanks
to the Disco Penguins and the B#'s for their wonderful singing in the Treble Choir Festival last Sunday. I am also extremely grateful to the choir parents, led by Team Ouellette, for their wonderful reception. Fabulous photos by our own Ed Haynes will be appearing soon. Great singing, great hospitality. We are blessed!

West Virginia Potluck Dinner
and Talent Show
Calling all performers!  This year's West Virginia Talent show and potluck dinner will be held Sunday, May 15th, at All Saints'. The fun and fellowship start at 6:00pm.  Can you sing, tell jokes, or play the ukulele?  Then we need you!  If you can't do any of these, we still need you!  We know you must have a talent you'd like to share, so come and get it on the fun! Please let Maggie Marshall (maggie@ccc.com) know what you can contribute in the talent department.

For those who just want to come and enjoy the show, this is a wonderful evening out for a great cause.  There is no admission fee, but there will be a free will offering to benefit this annual mission trip to West Virginia in June to fix up homes of needy Appalachians. Please bring a dish to share as we enjoy this annual event with our Central Congregational brothers and sisters.

Prayer Workshop
Praying with prayer beads is a very old tradition.  In the recent past, a prayer bead practice specifically in the Anglican tradition has evolved.  On Wednesday, May 25, from 7:30-8:45 pm, (Blue/Cranberry rooms) we will explore the tradition of Anglican Prayer Beads.  We will have some history, some teaching and an opportunity to pray with beads.

If you would like to experience this, or are looking to deepen this practice in your life, please join us.  We will have sets of beads (so let us know if you are coming so we can be sure to have enough).  If you already have (any type/tradition) prayer beads, you can bring them along to use as well.  If you have any questions about this workshop, please contact Lynne Grillo (lynne@odic.com or 978 846 4300).

Sunday Forum
will focus on the scripture readings for the day, The Propers for Ascension Day, listed elsewhere in this e-bulletin.   What questions do these scriptures raise for us?   Come and join the discussion in the Colors of Christ room at the side of the Parish Hall. Discussion will begin at 11:30 AM. --- Harry Taplin

My Father's House Walk

It's time for the My Father's House Walk; the Walk for Homeless Children -- Saturday, June 11, 2016.

This walk is critically important for keeping the doors of My Father's House open to welcome the homeless teen moms and children the Lord brings to us. The participation of local churches is an excellent way for people to have an eternal impact on these young lives. It is only a 2-mile walk. Anyone can do it. My Father's House is a faith ministry. We rely on God to supply all our needs through the generosity of his people. Thank you and God bless.

Volunteers Are Needed
to help trim the All Saints' lawn during the growing season.  Currently, we have a rotation of five volunteers and, with a few more, the workload could be reduced to two or three turns for the season.  Equipment is provided.  Won't you consider helping out?  Please contact Norm Douglas (ndouglas3@verizon.net) or Bruce Bray (maryb68@verizon.net, bray@ll.mit.edu) if interested.

All Saints' Yard and Plant Sale
Yard & Plant Sale Sign
8AM-2PM on Saturday, May 21st.

Plants: While cleaning out your gardens now is a good time to pot up plants for the plant sale.  We need perennials, herbs, ground covers, shrubs, small trees, and anything that goes with a garden.  Potting plants early will make them stronger and look better for the sale. Hostas have been a big seller.  Carol Douglas

Yard Sale:
Take in will begin Sunday, May 14 after the services.  Items may be left in the Atrium outside of the office.  Items may also be left Tuesday, May 16 through Thursday, May 18 from 11:00AM -4:00PM and Friday, May 20 from 12:00-7:00 PM. Please no electronics or skis.

This is a major fundraiser for All Saints' so we ask that everyone consider giving their time.  Sign-up sheets will be in the Narthex starting this weekend.  The time request is broken into easily doable 2-3 hour slots.  There is a special request for help on Friday afternoon and evening, until 8:00PM to move items from the atrium to the parish hall.

We are also seeking a few individuals to sell coffee and pastries in the kitchen during the sale. If you are interested, please contact our Wardens, Chris Mills or Frank Ouellette.

Goal of e-bulletin: "to communicate what is going on at All Saints' Church Chelmsford"
