From the Rector on the Sunday Forum
This Sunday, the Fourth Sunday of Easter, is called Good Shepherd Sunday because we focus on Jesus as the Good Shepherd. We also pray the 23rd psalm and sing "The king of love my shepherd is."  In the forum I will lead a discussion on this line from the gospel of the day: "My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me."  We will look at what it means to hear Jesus' voice and to follow him, as well as wonder together about being known by Jesus. If you're interested in deepening your understanding of Jesus' role in your life join us at 11:30 AM in the classroom off the parish hall.

Baa Baa Blessings, Bill

Musical Notes Music Staff
Music for this Sunday continues the Eastertide theme, and also contains many shepherd and sheep allusions since the Fourth Sunday of Easter is informally called "Good Shepherd Sunday." Psalm 23 is always used on Easter 4, and the Gospel reading refers to Jesus as the Good Shepherd. The opening voluntary is by British composer Kenneth Leighton (1929-1988) and is based on the hymn tune "St. Columba." It starts out as a quiet canon with two contrasting sounds - oboe and flute - and builds from the peaceful start of Psalm 23 to a part more like "death's dark vale" and back to calm again at the end. The Parish Choir will bring you back to Dibley with Howard Goodall's "The Lord is my Shepherd."

Holy and Ever Loving Father, we ask your blessings over our Living Stones Capital Campaign. May we be ever faithful to your will, loving and compassionate towards each other, and discerning in our endeavors. We ask that you abide with us as we prayerfully consider the potential of our contributions, the promise of the campaign, and our role as faithful stewards of this place.  May God the Father encourage us, May Jesus the Great Healer remove fears and obstacles from our midst, and May the Holy Spirit unite us in purpose.  Amen.

West Virginia Potluck Dinner
and Talent Show
Calling all performers!  This year's West Virginia Talent show and potluck dinner will be held Sunday, May 15th, at All Saints'. The fun and fellowship start at 6:00pm.  Can you sing, tell jokes, or play the ukulele?  Then we need you!  If you can't do any of these, we still need you!  We know you must have a talent you'd like to share, so come and can get it on the fun! Please let Maggie Marshall (maggie@ccc.com) know what you can contribute in the talent department.

For those who just want to come and enjoy the show, this is a wonderful evening out for a great cause.  There is no admission fee, but there will be a free will offering to benefit this annual mission trip to West Virginia in June to fix up homes of needy Appalachians. Please bring a dish to share as we enjoy this annual event with our Central Congregational brothers and sisters.
