The first day of Spring is March 20, 2014. Here are a few suggestions to help you feel refreshed, revitalized and renewed, after a long winter. Spend an afternoon doing some clutter and space clearing both at home and at work. Purge e-mails and paper documents that you have kept, but you know you are never going to refer back to. Bring fresh cut flowers and flowering plants into your home and work space for good spring energy. Re-arrange the furniture in your home and work environment for a new flow. Donate items you are not connected to anymore.
Open up your closets and let go of at least 2-3 clothing items you have not worn in a long time; someone out there really needs it. Keep the windows open the whole day.
Feeling tired after this very long winter? Head outdoors and take in the beautiful, natural surroundings all around you. Visit some of our local nature preserves including the Bruce B. Purdy Nature Preserve at the Apple Creek YMCA, High Cliff State Park, Bubolz Nature Preserve, Heckrodt Wetland Reserve, 1,000 Islands Environmental Center for more than just a quick walk. Go to connect. Happy Spring!! Brenda Johnson |

Annual Campaign Staff Giving at 79% of Goal | |
Each year, we provide membership and program assistance to families in our community who could otherwise not afford to participate. We do this via our Annual Campaign.
The Fox West YMCA staff goal is $9,500. So far, we have raised $7,481.64 of this goal.
Our commitment to raise $9,500, as a staff team, sends a signal to our members, and our community, that we believe EVERYONE should have an opportunity to benefit from YMCA's programs and services.
If you would still like to donate to the 2014 Annual Campaign, and help us meet our goal, please see your supervisor, or Jodi St. Aubin, for a pledge form.
Thank you for your donation to the 2014 Annual Campaign, and for all that you do for the Y, our members, and our community. You are helping us strengthen the foundation of our community. |

This month, our staff spotlight is on Jenny De Zeeuw. Jenny is a long-time member of the Wellness Center staff. Get to know Jenny better in her answers below!
Why do you like working at the Y? My favorite part about working at the Y would definitely be the many friendships I have gained with members and staff over the last 4 years. Each shift I look forward to catching up with members and encouraging them to achieve and maintain their fitness goals. What are some of your hobbies? My favorite hobby is traveling with my family. I also love running with my dog Buddy and caring for our three pet geese. What is your favorite travel destination? It's a tough call between Hawaii and Disneyworld. I absolutely love both places. Who inspires you and why? The person I admire most is my grandpa. He endured many negative experiences throughout his life, yet he remained a kind, happy, patient person that loved life. What are three of your favorite movies? 1. Catching Fire 2. Cinderella 3. Elf |
