Engineering Firms Submit Proposals for Project

Five companies have submitted proposals to provide engineering and design services for the Bloomsburg flood protection project:
- Borton-Lawson - Wilkes-Barre, PA
- Buchart Horn, Inc. - State College, PA
- Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. - Babylon, NY (corporate office), Scranton PA (branch)

- Uni-Tec Consulting Engineers, Inc. - State College, PA

The proposals were opened in late April and will now be reviewed by the project team which includes the Columbia County Commissioners, and representatives of Autoneum North America, Windsor Foods, and SEDA-COG.  The team plans to narrow down the list to two or three companies who will then be interviewed by the team.  A formal recommendation to the County Commissioners is expected in May.  Selection of the engineering firm will be announced soon after, pending a review by the project's funding sources.

Firms which submitted proposals had to indicate an awareness of Pennsylvania permitting requirements.  They also had to demonstrate the capacity to manage two flood protection projects concurrently, and provide relevant experience in the design and management of flood protection systems similar in nature and scope of work to the Bloomsburg projects.

The proposed time line for the project includes one year for engineering and design, and two years for construction.
