QUICK TIPS
for Microsoft Excel

Automatically SUM()
with ALT + =

Quickly add an entire column or row by clicking in the first empty cell in the column. Then enter

ALT + '=' (equals key) to add up the numbers

 in every cell above.

 Display Formulas with
CTRL + `

When you're troubleshooting first look at the

formulas. Display the formula used in a cell by hitting just two keys: Ctrl + `(known as the accent key) - this key is furthest to the left on the row with the number keys. When shifted it is the tilde (~).

Add or Delete Columns Keyboard Shortcut

Managing columns and rows in your spreadsheet is an all-day task. Whether adding or deleting, you can save a little time when you use this keyboard shortcut. CTRL + '-' (minus key) will delete the column your cursor is in and CTRL + SHIFT + '=' (equal key) will add a new column. From an earlier tip, think about CTRL + '+' (plus sign).

Adjust Width of One or Multiple Columns

It's easy to adjust a column to the width of its content and get rid of those useless ##### entries. Click on the column's header, move your cursor to the right side of the header and double click when it turns into a plus sign.

 Double Click Format Painter

Format Painter is a great tool which lets you duplicate a format in other cells with no more effort than a mouse click. Many Excel users (Outlook, Word and PowerPoint too) use this handy feature, but did you know you can double-click Format Painter to copy the format into multiple cells? It's quite a time-saver.

Copy a Pattern of Numbers or Even Dates

Another amazing feature built into Excel is its ability to recognize a pattern in your data, and allow you to automatically copy it to other cells. Simply enter information in two rows which establish the pattern, highlight those rows and drag down for as many cells as you want to populate. This works with numbers, days of the week or months

BEWARE
Fake E-commerce Sites
Steal Personal & Financial Details

Not all the financial information being stolen comes from data

breaches at large corporations or from email scams.  Quite often, it is inadvertently given away by the victims themselves at e-commerce websites.  In fact, it is so prevalent in today's world that the FBI estimated that over 560 million dollars have been lost to internet scams!

Many of us shop on-line, not only for the convenience - we don't have to waste gas and time, schlepping from store-to-store - but because, let's face it; the prices are often better than what you can find close to home.  The cost of operating a business is lower, and the fact that multiple vendors from all over the world are competing for our business can make for some serious bargains.  Who can resist?  Apparently, not 27 percent of the world's consumers - nor a staggering 55 percent during the holiday season.  That's some traffic!  We shoppers are almost like fish in a bucket for some of these scammers who know exactly how to reel us in.

Even the best of us is vulnerable.

It's 2:00 in the morning, you can't sleep, "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" is droning along in the back- ground (it's not your fault; nothing else is on), your bottle of Melatonin is sitting in the foreground, and your
computer screen is beckoning you with incredible products and prices.  You can't help but marvel at how genius you are for having managed to turn your insomnia into a positive use of your time, all the while saving fantastic amounts of money that will no doubt go into your 401K - if you can afford it after you stop off at Starbucks for a shot of caffeine on the way to the office.  Of course, before you place your order on-line, you have taken a moment to look for and verify that the site does indeed have the SSL icon (the lock).  Despite the obvious sales-induced adrenalin rush, you still have your wits about you and understand the necessity for security.

Probably a pretty common scenario - for the most part - and there's nothing wrong with it, right?  (Okay, besides "The Housewives" playing in the background.)

Unfortunately, not necessarily

 3D Printers
3D printers as low as $499.
The introduction of low-cost 3D printers is like the early days of desktop publishing when it came on the scene in the mid-'80s. Just as desktop publishing revolutionized the publishing world, 3D printing could create new forms of printing, like becoming an important tool for prototype visualization and small-scale manufacturing projects.

Connected Cars

Smarter cars will be connected to the Internet either directly via embedded 4G radios or through shared smartphone connections.

 Health Products

There are dozens of health-related products like Nike's FuelBand, Jawbone's UP, Fitbit, Misfit's Shine and others, all of which can be used as part of a personal health-monitoring system. iHealth has a digitally-connected glucose testing kit, and the company's digital blood pressure cuff uses the iPhone for controlling the cuff and delivering data to the user.
