and
a very
HAPPY
NEW YEAR

Dear Friends,

Once you've trimmed the tree, hung the lights, fought the crowds to buy the perfect gifts, wrapped, and cooked and cleaned so family and friends can come and make a big old mess, it's time to slow down and remember what the season is all about:  stress, blowing the budget and overeating!

Besides all that, at least a small percentage of the holidays
should be about nothing more than pure and simple fun.  You remember fun?  Noun for enjoyment, amusement, or lighthearted pleasure? And not just for the kids. Just because we're older, wiser and more mature, does not mean that the fun should end.

So, during the hustle and bustle of the
holiday, our wish for you is
to find what brings you joy and makes you smile.  Yes, we hope you find the fun.

Merry Christmas & "Happy Festivus for the rest of us"! (See link below.)

Oh, and to quote Oprah:  Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right!

Sincerely,

Jamshid, Cecile, Ross,

CHRISTMAS RECIPE
Best Bread Pudding Recipe
Best Bread Pudding Recipe
There are instructions provided
in the video above for more than
one variety of  bread pudding

thanks to a more than a couple of chefs.   If you're a fan of bread pudding, you will have a hard time choosing which of these to prepare.  One uses yams, another, Italian fruit bread.  How about a brown sugar & nut topping?   They all sound & look absolutely delicious - and they're easy to do!

THE BEST
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS DISPLAYS
IN LOS ANGELES
Candy Cane Lane in Woodland Hills

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza or just the winter solstice, you have to admit that there is something magical about all the beautiful twinkling lights during this time of year. Whether you are a kid or an adult, its hard not to feel all warm and cozy inside seeing decorations during the dark, cold time of year. (Yes, I know L.A. is never very cold, but December is colder than summer.)

A local favorite,Candy Cane Lane, encompasses an eight square-block area in Woodland Hills and has been a tradition for the residents that began in 1952, with a celebration of lights, figures and artificial snow.
Another view of Candy Cane Lane
in Woodland Hills.

It begins on 2nd Saturday of December and lasts through the end of the year.  It's located at the intersection of Lubao and Oxnard Streets in Woodland Hills.  People drive slowly down the street with their headlights dimmed so that everyone can enjoy the lights. The closest exit is Winnetka, off of the 101 freeway.

Residents ask that visitors drive by no later than 10pm on weeknights, 11pm on weekends. Many residents turn off their lights after this time to discourage viewing.

Directions:

  • From the 101 freeway in the West part of the San Fernando Valley in Woodland Hills exit at Winnetka Avenue.
  • Drive north on Winnetka Ave, and just across from Pierce Junior College, turn right on Oxnard Street.
