Give a Big THANK YOU!

The Seattle Foundation's "GiveBIG" campaign generated an astonishing $11.1 million in online contributions for 1300 nonprofits, with the social-media fueled campaign exceeding its 2012 total by 50%.  This single-day event encouraged Seattle area donors to support local non-profits and the work they do.

We are proud to report that 35 donors selected SGC to receive a contribution totaling just over $6500 before corporate matching.  What a gift!
Again, a Big THANK YOU!!!

Spring Performance Highlights
SGC has been busy singing this spring. Here are some hightlights of past and and upcoming recitals.

Dolcine sang at the Northgate
Barnes and Noble during an author signing on May 4th. This was a bookfair that benefited SGC. We made over $430 from book sales the week of the performance.
Dolcine 2012
Allegra and Vivissimi braved crazy traffic and shared selections from the upcoming spring concert at the Seattle Aquarium to the delight of a large crowd on May 11th. (See photos above courtesy of Allegra Mom and professional photographer, Olga Plastino.)

Prime Voci was busy last weekend first performing live at King FM's Northwest Focus Live where they premiered a stellar new piece you'll love to hear at our upcoming spring concert. The next day, May 17th they performed for the congregation at Volunteer Park SDA Church where we rehearse throughout the year.
PV at VPSDA May 2013

Cantamus will perform a recital on June 30th just before they head to PICCFEST (Pacific International Children's Chor Festival). The recital will be held at the Choir Center at 3pm. Come and wish the girls a bon voyage!

Raffle News - Tickets due by June 4 - 6Raffle Bear 2013

Congratulations to those hardworking girls (and parents) who've already sold their minimum amount of tickets and more! Over 67% of girls have turned in some tickets and money. We're on our way to our goal and there are two weeks left to sell.

Remember that each girl is expected to sell a minimum of tickets depending upon her choir (see below). If a chorister sells her minimum plus an additional 20 tickets she receives the cuddly teddy bear seen here. These bears are quite popular and are excited to be adopted! In addition to a bear, choristers also receive half of the ticket price ($2.50) applied to their chorister account as a credit towards tuition, camp, or tour expenses for each ticket sold above your minimum.

Minimum Sales

Dolcine               20 tickets or $100 in donations

Vivissimi             20 tickets or $100 in donations

Allegra                30 tickets or $150 in donations

Spring Concert Volunteers Needed
30 Years of Inspiration

Our girls have been working hard learning their music. Our faculty has helped them prepare. Now we need your help to create a successful concert celebrating SGC's 30 Years of Inspiration.

Please contact Cathy Cosca to volunteer as a chaperone,  greeter, usher, boutique assistant, flower seller, raffle helper or more. It takes nearly 30 volunteers to successfully staff our Tech Rehearsal and Concert.

Can You Take the Ticket Torch?

Dennis and Kate Dacey have generously managed our concert ticket assignment and sales for four years now.  They have done a fantastic job coordinating the will call and day of sales!  Their daughter, Erin, will be a senior next year and we would like to find a new couple to Take the Ticket Torch so they can sit out her senior year.

Are you ready to step up and fill this valuable volunteer role?

Yes?  Then please email Stacia and let her know.

You can train with Dennis and Kate this spring and step in next Nov/Dec!

A quick overview of the Ticket Coordination job:

  • Assign seats/tickets for pre-orders leading up to the  holiday and spring concerts
  • Staff the Will Call table in the choir lobby on the T/W/Th prior to the concerts
  • Staff the Ticket Sales and Will Call booth the afternoon of the concerts

We look forward to hearing from you!

Dancing and Singing and Orff!  OH MY!

Summer Music Day Camp is more than just singing!

It is dancing, hand chimes, rhythm ensemble, and more!  Our Camp Manager Sarah Bartolome has spent the last semester in Lithuania and will be bringing back fun new folk dances and singing games from her research.  Grab some friends and register your girls today!!!

Sessions available the week of July 22nd and July 29th.

Click here for a registration form.

Hello Allegra, Cantamus, and PV families!

We're 2 months from SGC Summer Camp 2013 at beautiful Fort Flagler on the Olympic Peninsula. Camp registration packets have been sent and need to be completed and returned by June 1. If you have not received one, please contact Paula Bariquit  Remember that electives are assigned based on order of receipt of completed registration materials. Maximize your chorister's chances of getting her first choice of elective by returning her registration materials right away.

It takes a lot of volunteers to make summer camp a success. We are still looking for some parents to help out.  We need:

  • Moms to chaperone the day trip to Port Townsend on Thursday, August 8th
  • Lots of parents to help with the last day clean up and festivities on Saturday, August 10th.

If you can volunteer for any of these positions, please contact Paula .

The camp committee plans to put on a slide show from last year's camp at the end of a rehearsal in June (date to be announced). This is a great opportunity for girls who will be attending camp for the first time to see how much fun they will have.

Many thanks from your Summer Camp Committee - Sarah Bartolome, Suzie Ness, and Paula Bariquit.
Does Your Employer Match Volunteer Hours?

In the interest of encouraging community involvement, some companies match volunteer hours donated to non-profit organizations with cash.  My employer matches each hour of volunteer work with a $10 donation and will pay up to $6000 per year in combined matching of cash donations and volunteer hours.  Both Boeing and Microsoft have volunteer matching programs.  Does your company?

Your donation of time to the Seattle Girls' Choir can translate to additional funding for SGC programs.  So please check out your employer's policy and consider donating your time to SGC.  We need volunteers to help with concerts, uniform checks, the Spring Raffle, and summer camp, just to name a few areas where parents (and grandparents!) can help.

Thanks!
