Pledges $20,000 to Lake George Regional Park

Donation to be used for capital improvements

SKOWHEGAN, Maine - Skowhegan Savings recently announced that the Skowhegan Savings Charitable Foundation has made a $20,000 pledge to the Lake George Regional Park. The pledge will be used to finance capital improvements to the park.

Lake George is a day-use lakeside park located between Skowhegan and Canaan, Maine. Established in 1992, it attracts over 20,000 visitors year round to enjoy the lake, trails and picnic areas in the 320 acre park. The park is also a destination for school groups, boy scout and girl scout outings and other service organizations. During the summer the park hosts Camp Podooc for over 200 Skowhegan and Canaan children in grades one through six who enjoy swimming lessons, theater, and arts and crafts during the week-long camp.

"We are so excited to be able to make this important pledge," said John Witherspoon, Skowhegan Savings President and CEO. "Lake George is a truly wonderful park that members of our community enjoy all year round. We're happy to be a part of maintaining the integrity and infrastructure of the area."

"This pledge from Skowhegan Savings will enable Lake George Regional Park to continue to offer and grow our programs, improve our facilities, and maintain the waterfront," said Jeff McCabe, Park Director. "Skowhegan Savings has been a huge supporter of the park for many years and we are very grateful for this contribution."

The $20,000 pledge, made possible by the Skowhegan Savings Charitable Foundation, is a matching commitment that will span a three-year period. All outside donations made during the three-year period will be matched up to a maximum of $20,000.
