Veterans History Project: Share Your War Story
World War II, Korean War and Vietnam veterans are invited to come to the Lake County courthouse on November 11 to have their oral histories recorded. The typed transcripts will be archived at the Library of Congress as part of the Veterans History Project. The project aims to collect, preserve, and make accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war. Any veteran interested in being interviewed or anyone interested in volunteering to assist in this project should contact Carol Cord at 847.377.3771, or visit our website for more information.

Residents Warned of Phone Scam
The Lake County Sheriff's Office is urging residents to be alert when speaking to strangers on the phone. Scammers can be very friendly, referring to the victim by first name or asking about their family, and often request money to be wired to an account for bond or air fare. The IRS and U.S. Treasury will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone or wire-transfers. If you get a call like this, take down the phone number and tell them you will call them back. Then call your local police agency for assistance in verifying if the call is a scam.
