WHATS NEW ON THE PROPERTY???
We have been very busy this winter and here is a quick look at the new additions to the property...
Outdoor Living Room and Renewed Pond
Our pond is full and over-flowing, and we already have some huge river tubes down there for summer floating for the more adventurous. We now have a beautiful Outdoor Living Room to hang out at the pond. Of course you will spend most of your relaxing time throwing sticks in the water for the pups to retrieve. We have built a fire pit there with huge boulders from the property. It sits on a hill with grass and wild flowers creating a beautiful backdrop. We are considering having our summer Farm To Table Dinner down there:)
Pizza Oven Patio
The pizza oven is DONE and we love it. We have created strawberry rock walls separating the pizza patio from my studio, framing the entire space. The patio itself is large slate floor surrounded by mulch planted with all your favorite pizza herbs ! Of course we have a bar there and for those not so great days a Gypsy Faire Tent will be there to keep you covered!
Home-Brew
Did I mention we now have home brew? And it's private labeled too?
Rick is a mad scientist perfecting his brewing methods and learning about whole grain brewing! Currently we have a wheat ale and an India pale ale in the kegerator!
Pups
In case you have not heard, we have a new pup...Hank....he's a golden retriever and already has this 'glamping greeting' thing down!
He's 5 months old and it's like he's always been here, although poor Maya has a bit of a broken nose since she is no longer the baby:( And of course Grace is still the Queen of the property
Chicks
We now have FRESH EGGS!!! Since last May we have raised 2 roosters and 17 heirloom hens. Our sweet Maggie and our wild Polish standard Ester have gone broody! They are in 'Zen Hen' mode sitting on a batch of about 9-12 eggs each....I see baby chicks in the near future with King Arthur or Prince Henry as the proud fathers!
New Signs
I finally learned this year about primer...it makes signs last longer:) I am recreating all the funky and fun property signage. Some of you will even be happy to know I am marking TMH trail so you cannot make a wrong turn.
Gardens
This year, after 5 years here, I believe I have perfected my gardening techniques. I have turned the entire garden space into square foot gardening and I love it. It's such a great way to show guests how easy it is in a small space to grow all kinds of food.
The paths are nicely mulched for easy maintenance and access. My cut flowers border the entire garden on the inside and my blueberries and figs are all around the outside of the fence.
Why we do what we do...
People are always amazed at how much we have done here in such a short period of time and continue to do. I remember when we were just finishing my studio and a friend was visiting us from Canada and I commented on how I could not wait to finish the studio so I could get inside and start creating. She looked at me laughing and said 'your creating is the studio'. I guess some people paint on canvas where we have chosen to paint our 18 acre landscape. We love creating new interesting unique spaces for our guests and us to enjoy.
