Letter from the Chair

As we complete the first quarter of 2013, the Women's Alliance McKinney has many opportunities for its members to get involved and participate.

We are excited to announce that our first WAM BAM (Become a Member) Crawfish Boil will be on Saturday April 20, 2013 at Stonebridge Country club from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. This is a family friendly event with activities planned for kids while parents enjoy lively music, sample great food and socialize.

The Gumbo cook-off promises to be fun so come share your secret recipe and show everyone how it is done! Tickets and sponsorships are available by contacting the Chamber at 972-548-0876 or ndaugherty@mckinneychamber.com.

The Nothing but Networking Event continues to be a favorite. Our next networking event is Thursday April 25, 2013 At Eldorado Country Club from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can sign up now to promote your business and enjoy lunch. This is a fun way to meet new members and potential clients.

Look for our free, fun events in June and July that we are finalizing now. September 12, 2013 brings the Make and Take event with Stacy Edwards showing us how to decorate for Halloween.

October 25, 2013 is the WAM Collin County Women's Summit that will showcase motivational speakers and information on our Health. We will end our year with the annual Shop, Walk and Wine in December.

Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!

In case you've never heard this saying, the Cajun - French translation is "Let the good times roll", a popular phrase typically used during Mardi Gras.

We plan to do just that at our first annual WAM BAM Crawfish Boil and Gumbo Cook Off!

We invite you join us on April 20 from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the Stonebridge Ranch Country Club - The Ranch Clubhouse - Hills Course at 5901 Glen Oaks Drive in McKinney.

Enjoy boiled crawfish from Cajun Crawfish Company and authentic Cajun music with the Dennis Cavalier Zydeco Band and a cash bar.

Think you got what it takes to make a great gumbo? Gumbo Cook off contestants will have the opportunity to show off their Cajun cooking skills to attendees and judges. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the night.

This is a family friendly event. We'll have music, food, a kid's corner and various vendors. So come on out y'all and support the Women's Alliance McKinney! Bring a blanket and chill on the lawn for an afternoon of good fun, food and friends!

The Junior League of Collin County is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
