Monday's Safety Tip #1
DRIVE SAFELY!
Did you know that during the 2012 July 4th weekend, 59% of drivers involved in fatal accidents between 9:00 PM and midnight were drunk?
Avoid drunk driving! Avoid distracted driving!
If you drive drunk, you not only put your life and the lives of others at risk, you could face a DUI arrest. The average DUI costs $10,000, making it difficult to recover financially.
- Arrested drunk drivers face jail time, the loss of their driver licenses, higher insurance rates, and dozens of other unanticipated expenses from attorney fees, fines and court costs, car towing and repairs, lost time at work, etc.
Even if you are responsible and don't drive drunk, you must be prepared for other drivers on the road. Distracted driving impairs your ability to drive safely and respond to other drivers and road conditions.
- Distracted driving is ANYTHING that takes your eyes off of the road, your hands off of the wheel or your mind off of driving. Postpone the family gossip or 4th of July driving "selfies" until you arrive home!
