June 2013

Dear Friend of CATS,

Congratulations from CATS to the class of 2013! Celebrate safely, follow your dreams, and good luck in the future! There have been many words written about this time in a young person's life. Nelson Mandela said "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world". Eleanor Roosevelt wrote "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams". Very inspirational words indeed.

CATS Youth Open House

CATS is hosting an open house for youth and their parents on Wednesday June 19th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the CATS office.

The CATS Youth Group is looking for teens that care about their community and want to participate in fun and meaningful projects and events this summer. Some events include youth Media Camps, Alcohol Awareness events, Community Surveys, Team Building Events and Community Awareness events!

CATS Youth Coordinator, Kaitlyn Clarke, comments, "The open house will allow interested families and youth to take a proactive role in promoting their own healthy behavior. Together teens can combat some of the major issues that they encounter and provide support and resources to other youth. Youth have the ability to make a change and the open house can give them that opportunity".

Summer is a wonderful time to explore new opportunities - we hope to provide the opportunity for youth to develop their leadership skills, learn about their community, meet new friends and have fun!
Pizza and refreshments will be provided. RSVPs are appreciated. If you have any questions or to RSVP please call 425-9171.
Join us at 1 Hood Road in Derry (bottom floor of the Church of Transfiguration).

How Walkable is Your Community?

Individual survey responses are anonymous. Aggregate data will be used by CATS and shared with collaborating agencies.

Keeping Kids Safe
Officer Jeff Pike, Derry Police Department

Safe Driving

Red light running is dangerous and can have tragic consequences...a reminder during busy summer travel time to obey traffic lights and watch out for those who don't. Talk to ALL drivers in your family about this dangerous behavior - it could save lives.
