Happy Holidays
Happy Holidays from everyone at CATS. Throughout the year we share information and resources with you on a variety of topics related to family and community safety. It's no different during the holiday season. In fact, the numbers show that the holiday season brings added safety concerns.
During December 2010, 25 people were killed in impaired-driving crashes per day on average & drivers 21 to 34 years old were alcohol impaired and involved in fatal crashes at a higher percentage than any other age group. (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration)
While holiday office parties and family celebrations may increase opportunities for drinking and driving there are other safety concerns. The holidays often bring varieties of stress from stretched finances to inclement weather to shorter days to "Black Friday" shopping hysteria and to loneliness and depression. Driving under the influence of alcohol or any drug is never a good choice.
