Feeling Social?

Our In-Home Socials Season kicks off next week with the WIF "Welcome Home Celebration" at C3Lab next Tuesday, November 15. Please join us! The celebration will be a relaxed and easy way to meet other WIF members.

So, what are In-Home Socials? They are events, typically organized in local Charlotte neighborhoods, to provide an informal opportunity for smaller groups of members to get to know each other better.

The Member Engagement Committee is gearing up for our 2017 In-Home Social Season! We are looking for members to volunteer to host an In-Home Social one weekday evening during the weeks of January 9 and January 16, 2017. We have identified the following areas where we hope to hold events:

Lake Norman, Uptown, Plaza Midwood/Elizabeth, University Area, South End, SouthPark/Cotswold, and Ballantyne.

If you enjoy easy entertaining (we'll do all of the work!) and would be willing to host an In-Home Social in your home, we would love to hear from you!  Please contact
Sarah Paris at sarahrparis@yahoo.com by November 30.
Getting to Know Sandra Conway

by Suzan Becker

History lesson time! Who in the world came up with the Women's Impact Fund mission statement, our guiding principles and our grants process?   Sandra Conway and Judy Allison led that prestigious team back in the days of our founding board.

Conway and Dianne Bailey were the first Chairs of the Education Grants Committee.  Conway also served as Grants Chair, a member of the Nominating Committee and chaired the study group that led us to become an independent 501(c)3.

"Now," she says, "I'm a check writer and I love writing my check!  I love the flexibility of that."

Sandra Conway is a "big thinker" and loves startups.  Professionally she is now working on another startup.  Thanks to the Wells Fargo Foundation, she was hired as a consultant to develop the strategy to re-launch the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Foundation.   She now serves as Board Chair of the CMS Foundation, helping Executive Director Sonja Gantt bring the strategy into reality...READ MORE
