Mark Twain.

The Sword and the Pen - an American History Play on June 19-21!

Ulysses S. Grant and Mark Twain will appear in a play to benefit the Haddonfield Public Library and Grace Episcopal Church the weekend of June 19, 20, and 21. Local historical actors will take us back to a tumultuous time in American history.  Revisit Ulysses S. Grant,  Abraham Lincoln's Mighty Right Arm;  and Mark Twain, America's Powerful Conscience;  with an even dose of laughter and tears, the Irascible and the Irrepressible. The players include Richard A. Bonnette and Rick Gross, noted historical actors from the Haddonfield area.

The play spans the Civil War and its aftershocks with lecture and readings

from a perspective only they could have. The content is suitable for adults,

young adults and infants and will be presented in the Grace Episcopal Church auditorium on June 19 and 20th at 7:00 PM and on June 21 a Sunday matinee at 2:00 PM.   Tickets are $20 and are available at the new Library Annex at 123 Kings Highway East,  and at Grace Episcopal Church, payable by cash or checks. Tickets may also be purchased online at www.gracehaddon.org      Get your tickets early and avoid fisticuffs! The proceeds will benefit the Haddonfield Public Library renovation fund and the Grace Episcopal Church.

New Digitized Haddonfield Collections are Available!

A collection of files comprised of nearly 4500 homes and properties in Haddonfield is now available in the library in digitized format. These files took up 12 file cabinets in the library. A generous gift from the Alles family provided the funding to digitize the files. The files contain information on the construction and history of the homes. Visit the reference desk to use the files in the library.
The library participated in a shared services project with several area libraries to obtain digitized copies of the Retrospect from 1906-2003. These digital files are also available for use in the library at the Reference desk. Due to copyright restrictions, the files are not available on the internet.

Our thanks to the Alles and Ainsworth families, Brett Bonfield, Library Director of the Collingswood Library, former Library Director Doug Rauschenberger,  and our own Eric Zino for working so capably to  bring the digitized local collections to the library.

Buy a Leaf to support the "We Love Our Library" Campaign

The HPL Library Board of Trustees has
initiated  the "We Love Our Library" campaign to provide fund raising for the library's long awaited expansion and renovation.

The campaign will raise funds for the enhancements, such as contemporary furnishings, equipment, and newer technology throughout the building. You can help by buying a leaf on the tree mural created by HMHS National Honor Society members. The tree has moved over to the annex.  Donations are being accepted from $5 to $250. Check with the library staff at the  circulation desk.
