February is a fun month at the library. Children will have fun making Valentine's Day crafts for loved ones.

The library expansion and renovation is moving forward.  Bids for construction have been sent out again and responses are due back in mid February. The library will remain in operation at our present site until a construction bid is accepted by the Borough of Haddonfield. The LIbrary Board is still working on an alternate site for service. Arrangements have been made for borrowing services at other area libraries. The sale of some vintage library furnishings and equipment continues. Click here for the auction site. Watch for updates!

The Library Board is very proud that Gene Kain is Haddonfield's Citizen of the Year for 2015! See story below.

Gene Kain is Citizen of the Year 2015!

Deborah Marchand, president of the Haddonfield Public Library Board of Trustees, and the  entire Board are very proud that Gene Kain is the Haddonfield Citizen of the Year. Kain, past president of the Library Board and now Vice-President, won the prestigious award at the Jan. 17, Lions Club breakfast. Mayor Jeff Kasko, also a member of the Library Board, presented the award to Gene Kain. Kain is a graduate of Haddonfield Memorial High School and Gettysburg College. He has been active and a leader in many civic groups, including the Rotary Club of Haddonfield, Interfaith Caregivers, the Haddonfield Friends of the Library, the Library Board, local sports groups, and Gene is also a past mayor of Haddonfield. Kain has been involved in wrestling and local sporting events for many years.  Kain was accompanied by his wife, Myra, at the breakfast, attended by scores of Haddonfield residents and past recipients of the award. Well done, Gene!

February 11 at 7 pm -Forecasting Nano Law book discussion with Dr. Ilise L. Feitshans.

Join us for a lively discussion of Dr. Feitshans' forthcoming book on Nanotechnology. This book uses plan language to enable policymakers and consumers to read and explore basic issues about defining nanotechnology under law, society's history of protecting the public from unquantified risk while permitting innovation, and the need to harmonize the existing regulations.

The audience will enjoy the insights of Dr. Feitshans from her unique multidisciplinary perspective. She has several degrees in higher education (law, public health science and international relations), combined with her rare experience writing for governments at the local, municipal and federal levels. Dr. Feitshans is currently the Executive Director of the Work Health and Survival Project in Switzerland and in the USA. Dr. Feitshans will also discuss self-publishing.

This free program is co-sponsored by the Haddonfield Friends of the Library and the Mabel Kaye Senior Center. Call 429-1304, ext. 114 to register. The discussion will be held in the library's meeting room. Light refreshments will be served. The snow date is Feb. 18 at 7 pm.

Buy a Leaf to support the "We Love Our Library" Campaign

The HPL Library Board of Trustees has begun the "We Love Our Library" campaign to provide fund raising for the library's long awaited expansion and renovation.

The campaign will raise funds for the enhancements, such as contemporary furnishings, equipment, and newer technology throughout the building. You can help by buying a leaf on the tree mural created by HMHS National Honor Society members. The tree is at the top of the stairs on the first floor of the library. Donations are being accepted from $5 to $250. Check with the library staff at the first floor circulation desk. Donations above $250 will be permanently honored in the library after completion of the renovation, anticipated to be seven months after construction begins! For more information visit here!
