Summer is in full swing! The Friends of the Library are gearing up for the book sale to be held on Sept. 20 and 21. The Members Only preview will be held on Friday evening, Sept. 19 at 6:30 pm at the library. Don't forget to renew your membership if it has lapsed.

The Friends can use many volunteers before and during the sale. Consider attending a training session to learn how to sort and organize the thousands of books that come in from Aug. 1 - mid Sept. Brian Smith and Jerry Tritt, book sale co-chairs, will train you on Saturday, Aug. 2 at 11 am or Monday, Aug. 4 at 7 pm. You can also sign up to help the days of the sale. Volunteers are especially needed at the beginning and end of the sale. Stop in the library to sign up or call for more information or visit

www.hfol.org   Also, for those who like to bake for the sale, call the library to sign up. Those baked goods earn cash for the Friends and folks appreciate a treat while they are shopping.  Lastly, bring donations to the first floor of the library. The Friends will gratefully accept books in good condition and DVDs and music CDs, etc.

Kids and teens can come daily for great books and fun summer reading activities. See Ms. Jordan's full calendar of events below. Also, teen craft events continue in August. Make some cool crafts and make new friends all summer long!

Eric Zino is joining our staff as the new Circulation Manager following the retirement of Claire Stairiker. See the story on Eric below and stop in and say hello.

The library is now on summer schedule which means we are closed on Sundays through Labor Day. We also close at 5 pm on Friday instead of 6 pm.

The library has Nook and 3M eBook readers that you can borrow for up to 1 month. The Nooks have 100 pre-loaded books for borrowing. You can borrow from the 3M Cloud with the 3M reader. Take one on vacation and read up a storm. Ask about borrowing these readers at the first floor circulation desk.

Don't forget to check out the library's subscriptions to eBooks (the 3M Cloud and a vastly improved Overdrive, )which also has downloadable audio books. The library has been using the 3M Cloud for more than one year now and use is booming. Stop in if you need any help getting started with eBooks, try the Discovery terminal to see books in the Cloud or visit the links above with lots of information to get started. All with your library card!
