Greetings!
Greetings of the season!
The holidays are here! The library is busy as ever and we know that you are. The library is beautifully decorated by the Haddonfield Garden Club. The beautiful spruce tree placed by the Maslowski family at Library Pointe in honor of their daughter, Diane, is now lighted.
Robert Byrd, local author and illustrator, will be here on Dec. 6 to greet the community and autograph copies of his superb new book "Electric Ben." Read story below.
The Haddonfield Friends of the Library are conducting a townwide membership drive to get new members. The Friends are offering some unique gift giving opportunities for your consideration this year. See story below. Please support the Friends, who truly make a difference at the library. Friends Membership is tax deductible.
William Reynolds, a long term Library Board of Trustees' member, is leaving the Library Board. We wish Bill all the best and thank him for all of his valuable service to the library.

Are you looking for unique gifts for special people over the holidays? The Friends of the Library have some book lovers specials for your consideration. The recent library book sale was a great success. We had thousands of books donated and turnout for the two day event was very good. This year a number of collectable books were donated for the sale. We have held these books from the sale since they are more valuable and might have been overlooked by people interested in buying them.
This year we are having a special holiday sale of these books. They will be be in the display case by the main checkout desk on the first floor of the library. The Friends of the Library are sponsoring the Giving Tree again this year. The tree, located at the adult Circulation Desk, has tags with types of materials (books, DVDs, and CDs) that the library would like to purchase. If you purchase one, the library will buy it and put a plaque in your honor in the item. Staff members Claire Stairiker, Jeannie Reinking, and Kathleen Metrick worked on our Giving Tree! Consider giving the community a gift from the Giving Tree!
Finally, the Friends of the Library are selling new color Haddonfield note cards by artist Marcia Steinbock. The eight cards have four different scenes: the library, Haddy (the Hadrosaurus Sculpture, the Kings Highway Clock Tower and Kings Court.)
Cards sell for $15 and are available at the first floor circulation desk. These cards are in addition to notecards of the library illustrated by Robert Byrd also available for sale.
The library continues to sell autographed copies of the books of local authors. Click here for a listing of the books on sale, which also make a thoughtful gift. These books are also sold at the first floor circulation desk.

A Special Thanks to William Reynolds for Service on the Library Board of Trustees
Bill Reynolds has served on the Library Board of Trustees for nearly forty four years. Bill served as President for about 2 decades. He has also served in other Board officer capacities, most recently as Assistant Treasurer. He certainly has had the collective memory for the Board. Bill's experience as a former mayor of Haddonfield and his professional consulting background have been invaluable to the Board. His love of the community and of the library, books, reading, and knowledge has provided a pillar of support for the library.
One of Bill's goals as a long term Board officer and member was to see the library become a larger facility. He is to be commended for his leadership over many years to plan for and try to achieve a larger library that could truly better serve the comunity. Bill hopes to see the addition and renovation completed as a retired trustee.
We will all miss Bill. The Library Board, staff, Friends of the Library, and citizens thank Bill for his many contributions to the Haddonfield Public Library. Well done, Bill Reynolds! |
The Haddonfield Garden Club places lovely flowers and decorations in the library every week. They also decorate during the seasons. The Garden Club recently decorated for the holidays. As usual, they adorned the library very tastefully. We thank the Garden Club for all that they do for the library. Stop in and see their fine work! See what's new @your library over the holidays! |

Home Improvement Reference Center is a resource that provides detailed, user-friendly "how-to" information about home improvements and repairs. HIRC includes magazine articles and reference content as well as videos and images designed to help homeowners tackle home repairs safely. The database provides the latest step-by-step information along with background information and basic tips on topics including electrical, plumbing, woodworking, outdoor projects, maintenance and decorating.

For a demonstration or for other information, visit the library's Reference librarians at the first floor desk. |
Tanner Street Entrance is Closed at 5 pm on Monday - Friday The Library Board voted at a recent meeting to close the library's Tanner St. entrance at 5 pm on Monday-Friday. Those using the library after 5 pm must enter the front door or Haddon Avenue entrances on Monday- Friday. The Library Board is doing this as a safety precaution for staff and library users. This policy went into effect on Nov. 5. Thank you for your cooperation in this effort. As always, we welcome your feedback. |
Library Closings in Storms and Bad Weather The library generally follows the lead of the Borough of Haddonfield and the Haddonfield School System in closings during inclement weather. We did close for two days (Oct. 29 and 30) during Hurricane Sandy. We came through with no flooding or other issues. No fines are levied when the library is closed for bad weather. We want the public and our staff to be safe and that is the Library Board's first priority. You can get information on weather or emergency closings from the message on our telephone system (call 429-1304) or it will be posted on our home page at www. haddonfieldlibrary.org Best wishes for a safe winter! |
