Silver Award Project
Book Drive at PES!

Did you know:
  • More than 15 million children in the U.S. live in homes where there are no books.
  • 1/3 of Miami-Dade County 3rd graders are not reading at grade level and are more likely to drop out of high school.
  • The number of books a child has at home has the same impact on their educational success as their parents' educational levels.
YOU CAN HELP

As part of her Girl Scout Silver Award, PES Alumni, Sarah Leiva, has linked our school with The Children's Trust Read to Learn Books for Free initiative make sure that ALL KIDS have books at home. As you finish your Spring cleaning and get ready for the summer, please bring in gently used or new books and place in the drop bin in the Media Center (by the first bank of computers). We especially need first readers, baby books and picture books. Please no textbooks, reference books or adult books. For more information click here.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING A CHILD READ TO SUCCEED!!

PTA Membership
We Need You!

More than ever, we need the Palmetto Elementary Community to support our PTA. The PTA is an organization dedicated to improving our children's scholastic lives through its fundraising efforts during the school year. The easiest way to contribute is by purchasing one of our membership packages - click here for details and forms needed to join. Anyone can join - including grandparents, and your contribution funds programs and activities that directly impact our children's academic experience at Palmetto Elementary.

Membership is not tied to any volunteer commitments, but rather is a way to show your support for the programs and events that the PTA provides. Don't miss out on this very significant opportunity...
