Submissions due this Friday November 6
Write a poem or story or create a piece of visual art and tell us your interpretation of the theme: "Let Your Imagination Fly". Pick up a PTA Reflections rules and entry form in the media center and return submission to the PTA mailbox by November 6, 2015.

$aveAround Coupon Books

Deadline November 6
Our $aveAround coupon book fundraiser is under way. Books went out in backpacks last week. Please return books or payment by Friday, November 6. If you sell 5 books, you receive 1 free! Also, all students who purchase or return the unpurchased book by November 6 will be entered into a drawing to win FunFest wristbands! Support our school by purchasing a book. The $20 cost is covered if you use the $20 worth of grocery store coupons!

| Garden Club |
PES Garden club meets every other Wednesday at 2 pm
Bring your kids, your water bottle, sun screen, gloves, shovels or weeding tools, and a hat with "closed toed" shoes to contribute to the garden! Mommy & Me Fashion Show

 Thursday, November 12 at 6 pm
Performing Arts Fund will host the "Mommy & Me" Fashion Show on Thursday, November 12, at 6 pm in the cafeteria. Come support this event and check out fashions from Talbots and Gap Kids, enjoy performances from PES groups and more. Tickets are $10 for adults and $1 for children with purchase of an adult ticket.

| Thanksgiving Food Drive | 
NEHS is sponsoring a Thanksgiving Food Drive for families in need in our area. Support this effort by taking your donation of items such as canned corn, green beans, gravy, cranberries; stuffing or corn bread mixes; or boxed potatoes to Mrs. Perez's room (Room 21) by Friday, November 13. Thank you for your help!

| Turkey Grams Are Coming |  Watch those backpacks...
Turkey Gram order forms will be coming home soon. This year, children can send new key ring tags to their friends, classmates, teachers, and others, for $1 per gram or $20 for the class. Teachers! For just $10 YOU can order Turkey Grams for your whole class! Order deadline is Thursday, November 19. All sales support the 5th Grade Fund. Questions? | Science Fair |  Save the Date: Wednesday, November 18
Mark your calendar for our Science Fair on Wednesday, November 18. This event will be preceded by a General PTA meeting at 6 pm followed by a seminar and panel discussion on STEM Careers and time to visit the Media Center and check out the incredible Science Fair projects on display. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, and Kona Ice will be on hand once again!

| PES Winter Social and Silent Auction |  Thursday, December 3 at 6:30 pm
Don't forget to purchase tickets for our Winter Social & Silent Auction which will be held on December 3 at 6:30 at the Garden House at Fairchild Tropical Garden. This is a night where we can get together, socialize, and meet our kids friends' parents...all while supporting our wonderful school. Tickets are $20 pre-sale, $25 at the door. On Tuesday, November 10th, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm we will be holding a Curriculum Fair highlighting the clubs, special programs, and curriculum our feeder pattern has to offer. The Fair will be held at Palmetto Senior High see the attached flyer.

Give Miami Day 2015

Palmetto Elementary's Blessings in a Backpack program feeds 60 students every week by providing a weekend bag of groceries to their families. Please make a donation on Give Miami Day 2015 to this very worthwhile program that exists solely on donations. To make a donation to support our program, please log on to givemiamiday.org on November 20 and search for Blessings in a Backpack. Please be sure to note Palmetto Elementary School in the "Honor Of/In Memory Of/Recommended By" area of the Foundation's Giving Day donation page. This ensures that funds will go directly to our school. Please see attached flyer. Thank you!

 Save Some Items for PES!Collections of Legos and Books to Come -- Start Saving Now!
We will soon begin collecting Legos for a new project at school, so please round up those bricks you no longer need! Also, we will have our first Used Book Sale at Fun Fest this year (February 20), so if you're clearing your bookshelves, hold on to those gently used hardcovers and paperbacks -- for adults and kids! Collection information for both will come soon.
